Anyone seen the new BE website?

Reading the BE forums, there are people making post after post about how they don't like it. I seriously wonder what is wrong with these people. Sure, let them know you don't like it but why go on and on about it, it's not like the website's aesthetics affect our line stability or something.

Yeah, I've had a read a couple of times - some real psychos there. I couldn't care less if the service stays the same, just an amusing cockup that might deter new customers so more room for me. :D

the main reason people are going pyscho seems to be that Be's "talks" of traffic management have surfaced around the same time as this horrible site was unleashed.

although there is no talks of throttling yet and apparently any changes are far off its sent everyone into a panic as Be have always remained on the side that says "NO" to artificially reducing peoples lines to cram more on the network

The traffic management stuff sounded about as close to reality as their new site is to good design. I'd be the first to be annoyed if I thought it actually might happen.

https://avatar.bethere.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=29189 : dont get me wrong I hope be stays away from throttling or w/e, and I was the first to point out that they dont mention throttling in the articles/announcements so far but this is what h as been stirring up all teh fuss around Be. (as well as their website transforming into a blinding ray)

Dear Members

As some of you have already seen there was an article posted recently on broadband choices that mentions ‘traffic management’.

Be has not made any decisions about implementing traffic management. What we are starting to do is open up a discussion about network management – because the reality is that it is not possible to infinitely add bandwidth and maintain a competitive price point in the market.

We want to consult with you on the options. What we’re aiming to do is propose possible solutions and to avoid a problem from occurring, We’ve seen in the past what happens if links get congested and we really do not want a similar situation to occur in the future.

The paths proposed in the article are just that, proposals, and the point of opening discussions is to see what other ideas are out there. We think that this is a better way of approaching the problem than simply making a decision in isolation.

We have already approached a small number of Be members to put across some of the propositions. The 2nd stage will be discussions with a closed group. If you want to apply to become part of this group please email us at [email protected]

We have to keep this to a limited number of people purely because we would be unable to effectively manage the sheer volume of input you would generate.

The 3rd stage would be to take that input into an open forum and try and find the best solution to suit both us and yourselves.

Thanks,
Everyone@BE

this was brought about from people reading the following article (which I posted a topic on be forums about to calm people down as they do not talk about throttling yet as previously mentioned:

Noticed this when I surfed over to Be site randomly the other day, not sure on their choice of design really. I'm all for retro stuff, but it looks odd to be honest.

haha I bet u were just puzzled by it... I know I was when I first saw it. from polls on Be's forums it seems that 98% of members dont like the site at all.. theres been pages of topics regarding how bad it is and be have been slow to respond (i dont blame them for being slow to respond but when they finally did respond it was nothing useful about the situation). We'll just have to see i guess

98%? Why do I think Be* will say something like "an overwhelming majority like the new site"? :D As in 2% eh? :p

Well, it looks like some of the more garish stuff has already gone so I doubt they'll be doing that. :)

And thanks for the heads up on traffic management. That was news to me.

I don't mind if they go that route, so long as they're reasonable about it. By way of an example, another ISP (who you might guess the identity of but I shan't name) admitted to traffic shaping file sharing networks/sites to sub-modem speeds on the grounds that they decided that such things couldn't possibly ever be used for anything work-related. As it happens I wasn't using them for work but that's besides the point.

That's an extreme (but genuine) example and it's unlikely they will go there. If they do then I'm gone. Simple.

aye, i also think that whatever they implement will be more reasonable than people are fearing. I mean, a lot of their subscribers are people who chose the ISP because of their good rep in this way and/or have had nightmare stories with other ISPs. I think a lot of people who are not in contracts will leave if anything too harmful to peoples usage is implemented

With a more "block-ish" modern font for everything (like the "BE" logo) it'd look a lot better.

I thought their old site looked a lot more professional.

I hope they got hacked lol - it would reflect better on them as a business :D lol

That is why I hate web developers. 80% (guess tbh) of them are worse than me, and I don't even class myself as good.
