Anyone with a broken greaphcs card? Try this.

I've tried a microwave, I had an old microwave and a long extension cable, I put loads of different things in, some light bulbs even light up. All the PCB tracks light up with lightning! :D

Eventually, something blew the door off, I think it may have been an egg or a grape or something silly like that!

HEHE

this does work genuinely but only for a few weeks-months then it will fail. Its a good fix while you arrange for a new card, its essential you apply thermal paste to the gpu etc after doing this. I have done this successfuly with several 8800 gtx cards

This trick probably isn'y just for resoldering. Way back when kids, we used to do a lot of 'running' repairs on sat decoders - right through to modern digital pace crap a few years ago.

I was told by my engineers that caps 'dry out' when there running 24/7. Problems used to arrise after a power cut - boxes wouldn't come back on - quick blast with a hairdryer through the vents into the psu used to heat up the caps enought to get the box running again. Obviously only used to work until power went off again.

Woooooooooo, fingers crossed

first up is an 8800GTX, will be used as a physX card if works as im on the red team now.

Next up is 8800GT if this one fails :D

EDIT: Here's the 8800GT

and guess what.. both of them now work...

The 8800GTX was previously giving no display output and causing very loud squeal when turned on, the 8800Gt was having lots of artifacts in BIOS and windows could not recognise it as a display adapter, now both are full functioning - desktop terms, video playback, css stress test. So wow thanks for letting me onto this. Looks like I now got me a dedicated physX GPU to match my 5850

Its a gas oven and I set it at Gas mark 6 which is about equal to 200c and it has some seal leaks so it may have been below that actual, oh and I forgot to mention that when I was doing the 8800GT i forgot about it and it had been in about 10 minutes before i switched the oven off :D, I truly had nothing to lose in this situation, but now ive gained a gaming pc from a family pc and a dedicated physX card for my main rig :D awesome. Obviously as I have said, I had nothing to lose in this situation, unless your card is completely defunkt and out of warranty I cannot suggest you try this.

Nothing to lose if a good way of looking at it, and fixing something that will otherwise go in the bin is very satisfying...

I'm just glad you didn't take the microwave suggestion seriously! ;)

just fixed an 8800gtx that was artifacting in bios and wouldnt boot into windows using this fix

cheers :D

my girlfriend has a bad knee, how long should i put her in for?

seriously though, i cant belive this works, now i cant wait for one of my old cards to die and give it a go!

it is a short term fix guys it will work for a few weeks maybe 2 months max and then it will fail again. Just bear that in mind its only to give you a short fix while you obtain a new card.
