I see the crucial m4 recommended a lot and am considering getting myself one, but is there anything coming soon that might be worth holding out for? Currently looking at the 256GB model.

Actually yes, but I being totally honest I have no idea how soon.

Basically what we have to go on is:

1. The crucial m4 all that generation of SSDs are a year old

2. OCZ have brought out the Vertex 4 and Agility 4, which are technically new

3. Marvell released a new SSD controller on March 15, and said their partners would implement it 'immediately' (quote from their press release)

4. The next proper new SSDs (with a proper performance increase) should use 20nm NAND, as opposed to the current 25nm, and Micron have been working on this for ages and won an award for it on December 6th, and also Intel has said they're definitely bringing out some 20nm SSDs at some point this year.

EDIT: fixed spelling

only had my m4 2 mths lookin at another upgrade allready jeez

id still go m4 for a bit methinks tho

Not meaning to offend or have a go, but I really don't understand when people have this kind of attitude. If you buy something 10 months or so after it's come out, and it's the kind of product that is replaced every 12-18 months, then how can you act surprised when you hear something new/better is coming along soon?

On a related note it annoys me to no end when people say something like "What?! I just bought my PS3 3 months ago, what do you mean Sony are bringing out a new one next year, way too soon!". And it's like well...it is 6 years old...
