For the keyboard, it could be possible, but you would need to contact service centre in USA and they should be able to advise. On the V7, we upgraded the chassis design to a "true island" design keyboard - this gave more rigidy as the key holes are punch out from the chassis, rather than one big whole accommodating the whole keyboard. This new design menas to replace the keyboard, requires that face of the chassis to replaced as well - because the keyboard is "fixed" to it. But price can be obtained from your local service centre for these parts. Regarding your other Q, we don't invalidate warranty if you open your machine and install new SSD or RAM. "Customer Induced Damage" isn't covered of course, and neither are the new parts installed.

Thanks for your fast reply.

I rather prefer to contact UK service center (Im at Spain) to buy the Laptop+cover spare part than talk to my local service (enametech) or USA, anyway both are out of my country and seems like UK service center is highly qualified as I almost only read happy ending posts here.

So its trickier to replace the keyboard as you have to replace chasis then, (maybe more expensive too and when i get a quote maybe it does not worth) but Im an IT with more than 20 years of experience, Im not afraid of it.
Also as a posibility.... Could it be posible to just buy spare keycaps that i need to localize my KB? like Ñ and some numbers and simbol keys that are arranged diferently so i dont have to change the whole keyboard?.

One question - and I know I should know the answer since I bought one - what is the specific difference between the v7 and r7? I went for the r7 in the end as it seemed to have a better CPU - is that correct?

i got my aorus x7 dt v8 couple of days ago, very happy with it so far. but i have a small gripe and was wndering if it was possible to send a request for.
on my old x7 pro sync, i was able to turn off certain g key sets, so i could switch between only blue and green without having to cycle through them all to get to the specific set (i didnt need more than 2 sets). this was possible though the old macro engine software
on my x7 dt. this doesnt seem possible anymore, looks like its now done through aorus fusion but there doesnt seem to be a way to turn off certain gkey colour sets. so it can be quite annoying to have to cycle the sets to get to the only two that i use.
is it possible to request this feature in the next version of aorus fusion? if not, who could i contact in order to request this?

edit, just to clarify as i wanst sure how to word it:

The versions were released at different times, v7 first and the r7 probably about 6 months later.

The v7 version was with the 7820HK processor and the r7 version has the 7700HQ processor.

So v7 was the higher spec CPU, but the unit was also more expensive.

We also put Pro O/S on the r7 version, whereas the v7 was with Home O/S.

Well have just ordered a X5 V8, should be here tomorrow. I would presume that it will require software updates, firmware updates etc done after initial setup.
Are there any potential pitfalls I need to be aware of.

thanks a lot. also found another problem, sometimes the g keys seem to stop working after a period of time. changing the volume with them is fine but changing the fan speeds or opening an app doesnt seem to work. a restart fixes this, but will inevitably happen again after about 2-3 hours. im going to assume this is software related, i havent yet figured out how to get them working again without restarting

hey, so i found another issue with my aorus x7 v8. i think its fusion related again though unsure. i cant seem to use the volume up/down macros or the fn + vol up/down when headphones are plugged in. it doesnt seem to recognise that the headphones are the primary input when plugged in and turns up the speakers even though they are muted. is there a fix for this?

I cannot reproduce it in our lab with the X7 v8 and latest version of AORUS Fusion. Maybe you could:

1. check if the default playback device is well-set
2. check if the Command & Control is properly installed
3. update the audio driver through Driver Update app

the default playback device automatically switches to "realtek digital output" which is registering as the headphone input device

ive tried reinstalling command and control and aorus fusion but with no luck

there are no new audio drivers available through the driver update app though i have tried reinstalling the drivers and trying another version with no luck.

Have you tried to switch the default playback device to Realtek speaker?

I have an AorusX5 that I bought from you guys back in 2016. Its been going strong until a few days back when the unit stopped powering on.
I suspect it may be a broken adapter. Do you know how I can source another and how much it would cost?

i bought a new charger for my aorus x7 pro sync about 5 months ago from here: https://www.coywood.co.uk/aorus-chargers-212-c.asp
just make sure you match the spec of the charger with your own, not all of them are labeled for the x5. when i bought my charger, i emailed them first with a picture of the charger brick sticker and asked which one would be suitable which they then picked one out for me.

Thanks Atom80 :) i did contact mendit and they charge £98.00 for a new X5 charger to be shipped to my address in the Midlands. its a bit steep so will go with Xemnes suggestion.
 
Also one last thing - I checked my warranty status on the Aorus site and it says it expires on the 20th July 2018, however mendit state the warranty has already expired on the laptop?
