Hi

Is it too late to cancel the order for the motherboard ? That MSI is pretty awful.

As for building a pc you should be fine with a Philips screwdriver and a pair of sidecutters/snips for cable management if using cable ties. A magnetic driver is also helpful if you have one. I would also have a small container for screws etc so that they don't get lost whilst building.

The cpu cooler will have it's own thermal paste either already applied or a sachet/tube etc included.

You might need a smaller screwdriver to screw an M.2 in but it's the sort of thing you'll get with any screwdriver set and probably have one sat around.

Agreed on the mobo, either wait it out on the Tomahawk or get the Elite imo, even the Gigabyte Gaming X would be better at £170.

That aside, there's plenty of step by step guides on youtube where you can watch people build. It's not as difficult as people tend to think, there's honestly more complex Lego sets out there. The worst bit is the cable management in most builds, and with the modern trend of PSU shrouds and decent rear panel routing it's really not that bad.

I would need a x570 motherboard with wifi .. which one would you recommend?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £217.99 (includes shipping: £0.00)

This is by far your best bet, but it might not be out for another week or two unfortunately.

You could always give customer support a ring and ask if they've an ETA.

If you absolutely can't wait the Asus TUF Gaming X570 Plus WiFi should be available and last I checked was around the same price on OCUK.

The X570 Tomahawk above would be a much better option but it is still pre-order. The ETA is end of the month/1st week in June.

If you want X570 and can't wait for the Tomahawk, then I would look at the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite and a pcie adapter. It will cost a bit more money overall, but it is a better board than the Gaming Edge wifi.

I am stuck on a Z77 board, so M.2 is alien to me :D

Recently switched out a Z77/3570K myself actually. lol

I saved some cash by going for the Asrock B450M Pro 4 with a 1600AF, it's been a cracking upgrade in most respects to be honest. The little screws for the M.2 slots are tiny, I had to go hunting around for my full screwdriver set in order to find one that would fit. lol

I plan on slapping in a second hand 3700X or 3900X in a year or so, or a 4000 series equivalent if Asrock release a bios update.

No that is the ITX version, so it would look a bit small in an ATX case. The ATX version of that board isn't available for some reason.

The Asus X570 TUF Gaming wifi is £249.99 so not really any cheaper than the options below. I prefer Gigabyte or MSI as there is a rep from both of those brands on here.

The B450 Tomahawk MAX is obviously the cheapest option of the three and should support Ryzen 4000. If you want X570 then the two Gigabyte boards are fine. All three will cope fine with a 3700X anyway.

So if you don't want to wait for the X570 Tomahawk, then the Gigabyte Gaming X and TP Link adapter works out slightly more than the Gaming Edge wifi, or a bit extra still for the Aorus Elite and wifi adapter.

Running the 3570K myself :D It is starting to show it's age though after 8 years. Just need to get some money together, as I could do with a new system for upcoming games.

Main reason I made the jump, world of difference in the likes of Assassins Creed Odyssey and The Division 2.

Think the total upgrade cost me just over £200, which I'm pretty happy with given the fact I can easily pop a better CPU in down the line.

1600AF, Asrock Pro 4 B450M, 16GB Patriot Viper 3200.

Just remember to screw in the stand offs into the motherboard before you put motherboard in, make sure nothing in shorting the motherboard from underneath.

Other than than take care when plugging in cables or connectors.

Should go fine.

when you put the thermal paste on, use an X (diagonal corner to corner)- seen a Reddit video with all different shapes and a clear piece to see through. That provided the best spread coverage on the CPU.
