Been attempting to play this for a couple of days with friends but have given up now, here's why.
- Third person does not work in this game. If someone is protecting a point and they are hidden round a corner, they will be able to see you coming up to them by using the stupid camera angle to see round the corner. You however cannot see them (without being close enough for them to have already seen you).
- Car handling is retarded. I can understand why they put car handling server side but it just makes it impossible to drive.
- Stealing/commandeering cars takes too long. If you're in a chase and you have to nab a car, you will not be able to catch them unless they are in a van/truck. Also you're likely to get run over, enemy or teammate, take your pick.
- If you're in a mission against people with shotguns, grenade launchers, snipers or rocket launchers, YOU WILL NOT WIN.
Was in a mission last night where we had to steal (as Enforcers?) a bunch of cars. We'd get in the cars and the Crims would just rocket them, killing us and blowing up the car. We could not win.
Another mission we had to capture a point and 4 Crims were holed up nearby with shotguns. We couldn't even get close. I was trying to snipe on of them with my bog standard assault rifle, score 3 or 4 shots on him before he outsniped me in 2 shots with his shotgun.
- Radar system is ****. Doesn't show people up. Combine this with the 3rd person camera peek and unless you already know where the enemy is, chances are you'll be dead very shortly. I was defending a car in a multi-storey car park, and I was up some stairs opposite an entrance. Seeing no baddies on radar, I decided to abandon my position and look for trouble elsewhere. No sooner had I turned around and a Crim comes up the stairs behind me and kills me.
- Perks. I ****ing hate perks.
- Tier system and missions. I was only on Tier0 or Tier1 missions so why was I pitted against people who were on Tier 2/3 missions?
Yesterday I was invited to a random group by some people that I'd done a couple of missions with, I joined (making us a group of 4) so that we could go pwn **** up together. We were all fairly rubbish and none of us had a Rep above 40. We took a mission and were matched against 4 Crims, each of whom had a Rep of at least 150. We were out skilled, out vehicled, out gunned and out perked. Needless to say we got raped.
The Tier mission system does not work if people who are higher Tier can go back and do lower Tier missions.
You wouldn't get lvl85 WoW players going and PvPing a group of lvl20s!
Wanted this game to be something fun I could play with my mates when they weren't playing WoW but it's just too crap.

started playing it last night, i like it but yeh certain things are grating hard (mainly weapons and car handling)

+1 to this, SAMP is much better even though it's just a mod to a really old game.
After his crying about the speed of getting into cars how anyone could take this post seriously I do not know.
The radar system is also working as intended, it is not meant to show all enemies nearby. For example if an enemy is in a vehicle they will be shown, but if they are on foot they will not be shown untill they start shooting, this is to allow people a degree of stealth, which should be how it is.

We should all try and get together if were on the same eu servers...
Also is anyone having luck raising cop rank? God it's so hard using non lethal weapons and trying to arrest people

To rank up cop level you really have to play with like minded people, all using less lethal, then you can get lots and lots of arrests. I'm up for some full on cop mode.

yeh you really need things to go your way for even a chance to arrest. I think yesterday i managed about 5 arrests which is not bad but its soo frustating just shooting someone point blank in the face and them not nealing.
had some good little group games last night though, had any epic fight in the docks whilst trying to hold this point 5v5.
and came across my first mission bug where you have to pick something up but if you drop it near a vehicle it goes in the vehicle and you cant pick it up again lols.

meh stopped playing the game a month or so ago, it has massive potential but the missions are so repetitive. it needs to add some solo grinding to the mix i feel
