Apocalypse Happened would you?

well downstairs I've got tents, ration packs, hexi and gas burners, compasses maps, water filters, and purification tabs, climbing gear (ropes, harness, nuts, cams etc), good selection of walking, climbing, and alpine style boots and crampons and a good supply of tools, so probably load up the car and head out to the country or something try and pick up anything else on the way.

Fire is ok for cooking food if you have the knowledge resources to start it.

How about sourcing clean water?

err lighter flint/steel and flint (well actually magnesium or something but still).

just grab a huge box of lighters from the news agents doesn't matter if they run out of gas that many flints will last you ages with some tinder.

as for water boil it or get it from fast clear streams.

I'll unload the contents of my cabinets and head over to you - Between us we'll be OK :)

Being in London this would be difficult. As there are no zombies involved or anything of that ilk, I'd probably:

Find necessary survival supplies as fast as possible.
Steal a motorbike.
Head for a remote part.
Secure HQ.
Go on scouting missions to acquire necessary provisions as needed.

What do you think the outlook would be for say a sole survivor/group of small survivors say two years after said event?

This topic is something that really does interest me, and I love to think what would happen in a realistic environment and not some Hollywood storyline.

Oh, and I'd go and raid Berry Brothers in London before proceeding to acquire a van and then raid their warehouse outside of London.

At least I'd be so drunk I'd not care about what was going on.

I notice a lot of answers are regards you on your own, I think the dynamic would change drastically if you had your family and especially children with you. This is why weapons would be my first choice for protection.

I think it show the different mindset from people with children and people without, Before i had any kids i would be much the same.

It would depend what the apocalypse was. A nuclear war would be very grim and probably not best to survive. A disease that wiped out a large chunk of the human race, and hopefully, and conveniently, cleanly disposed of the bodies, would be my favourite choice as at least the world wouldn't become some desolate waste land.

I'd then head to some remote location and try and find a young woman's convent and repopulate the world.

i do wonder about some people saying weapons and claiming that they could then kill whoever they wanted to get other stuff. just because there is an apocalypse doesnt mean killing is ok and easy!

depends on the type of apocalypse i guess but assuming nuclear i would go for water (before it starts raining!). Stockpile as much as possible and get a load of tinned food from the supermarket round the corner.

then i would try and round up locals and try and form some sort of local order. i live in a fairly rural area so would imagine we would be out of the direct fallout depending on the extent.

Get everyone I know still alive and offer them sanctuary and food in return for helping build as big a wall as possible around our farm.

Then find someway to arm ourselves to guard it.

We have fresh water and all the means necessary to be self sufficient food wise.

Then when fully secure I'd start the process of choosing fit women to come and keep me entertained.
