People don't tend to sit on their PDAs .Memphis said:Uh huh.
Funny how PDAs seem to last ok.
Hellsmk2 said:It looks utterly amazing. Definately seems to a big step forwards for phones/ ipod!
I'll still wait for the second generation of them to be released though.
Got to hand it to Apple though... they really know how to make awesome products.

5 hours battery life using apps, 16 audio, and these are the manufactures specs as well, so probably in optimised conditions.
Although this is great for PDA type device, as a phone, it is going to be a bit of a pain if it needs charging at least once a day.

Will people ever give this screen scratching nonsense a rest?ChoÞÞer said:rrrr there nice, i bet apple will be replacein a lot of these phone's due to the screen breakin
Got to admit it - but its made me rethink my mp3/video plans (in the near future) as I am really after a decent convergence device (normal I carry 2 mobile phones, a PDA mobile phone and my 40GB mp3 player).Psypher5 said:i thought id never say this about an apple product..
I want one.
it has multi touch !!!!
This is not entirely true. In fact most services use SIM cards. As far as I know Alltel is the only big one that doesn't.Mr_White said:In the US, they're stuck with cingular, their phones don't have sim cards.

It's a redundant wireless device since it doesn't seem to offer anything new. Convergence in such a nice looking product is good, but when HTC devices are around and do what the iPhone is promising better and for cheaper, there's really no contest.Al Vallario said:This is an absolutely killer wireless device, though. The wireless functionality and software (Widgets just like OS X, Safari web browsing, beautiful contact list system, conversation-style SMS messages, photo viewer, video viewing, iPod-like music playing interface) combined with the 4/8GB hard drive makes it the best companion you could possibly imagine if you're on the move. Plus it's 11.6mm thin, has three proximity detectors, an ambient light sensor, a huge touch-screen with unbelievablely smooth multitouch functionality...
It's not a replacement for the iPod, it's a separate device which puts the iPod to shame and does so in style
If you've used an N80, you'll also know that the screen is absolutely tiny and impossible to use for any length of time. For video is awful at 1.5". The iPhone is 320 x 480, and considering TV is 720 x 576, I think it's fair to say on a 3.5" screen it's still going to look pretty damn good.divosuk said:Hate to burst everyones bubble, but if the screen is just 320x480x180ppi then the picture will be no where near as good as displayed on the website and demo pictures.
Nokias N80 is 352x416 on a screen about 1.5Inches (it looks great) This phone is roughly the same res on 3.5 Inches.
The Website demo pic and all the hyped up pictures on the web are way too defined & anyone that believes the screen will look anything like that deserves all they get.
I'd like to think the screen would look as cool as that - but there's no way it will at that size and that res. Look at your own phone screen size - then check the specs for it.
I had one as well as my main phone for ages, it's fine for mobile use but otherwise (such as trying to watch something that's more than a minute in length) just leads to eye strain.divosuk said:If you read my posts in Mobile Phones forum, you would know I have an N80 - and I find the screen amazing and easy to look at (even for extended periods).......
What I'm saying here is - The Apple phone is roughly the same res as the N80 and its 3.5" (2" bigger than an N80 screen) - That being the case, there is no way the Apple phone is going to have a display like they portray on their website and in the preview pictures...... they are way too defined and are actually more representative of a screen about 600x400 pixels.
