Yeah I got the 16” about 5 months ago and I’m happy with mine for the next few years at least and then Apple Silicon, apps etc will have matured enough and it should be pretty awesome by then. There’s always that temptation with shiny new tech though and I love the idea of the fanless Air!Disappointed that the 13" didn't get a 14" update like the larger size did.
I was worried that I would be kicking myself for getting the 16" recently after today's announcements but I'm perfectly content actually.
Haven’t watched the video yet, only read this thread. Thoughts about GPU? Does it run modern games at 1080p60? Did they demo it with anything?
Seems like a backwards step in some ways. Gamers will struggle to find games compatible with ARM. Secondly, a lot of will need to be converted, and I reckon only a few big names will do.
I thought about the Air for a light browsing machine, but my iPad Pro 11" (1st gen) is still working fine for that so I think I will hold out as well.I've cancelled my order for the Air with 16GB / 512GB. I know that I'll want to swap in a year or so when newer/better ASi Macs are released, so it doesn't make sense to buy into the upgrades. I'm leaning towards grabbing the cheapest Air with education discount for £899. Majority of my usage is Office 365, web and email. I do a little bit of Lightroom CC work as well, but considering how well that runs on an iPad Pro, it should run equally as good on the new Air.

The issue is my mrs is cabin crew and her iPad is quite old so I've offered her mine to take with her. I was initially looking at the larger size iPad to replace it with but it's far from cheap. Work provide me with a 15" Pro which spends most of it's life in Clamshell mode connected to two monitors and a USB-C hub. I rarely move it but I do fancy my own portable laptop and the Air fits that perfectly.Yea if it's just for browsing then the iPad is a solid choice. I use mine for work.

I'm pretty sure they mentioned that the MBA will smash Lightroom at the event. I don't know what Lightroom workloads are like though as I've never used it.
