Hi,

Does anybody know what the salary is like for mac genius or similar in an apple store? And is it just a basic wage or is there a bonus or profit sharing? , if so how much?

Im thinking of going into this but have a family so couldnt if it was low wages.

I work at a store in the back dealing with the stock/systems. It's fun, but like any retail job can be very annoying.

Mac Genius salaries are decent, specialists are relatively well paid for a retail environment it has to be said, there isn't any commission or bonus applied from sales. It's hard to say how much really, if you want to drop me an email I can certainly tell you the typical wages.

You have to take into account where you'll be working, North vs South :)

I'd be surprised if they were on mega money; partly because people that work there probably have a fair bit of "Apple Love" so aren't there so much for the money, and partly because I've never spoken to a "genius" who actually knew anything beyond the basics.

Recent data indicate that Apple engineers have significantly lower salaries than their Silicon Valley peers: $89,000 at Apple, versus $105,000 at Yahoo and $112,000 at Google. Paying lower salaries had a major impact on Apple's bottom line when it was struggling in the market up until 2004. But now that Apple is highly profitable, these lower salaries are no longer a factor in Apple's success. Will Apple have to raise salaries to match the market rate, or face defections?"

Does that mean that store workers get paid less as well?

http://www.ifoapplestore.com/index.php - the forums there have lots of info on your expectations as a worked for apple.

I am surprised that Vader|DSL is being so forthcoming on a public forum!

Not really saying anything too bad :) I hope. Someone wanted to know a little information I obliged. I'm not listing details of peoples wage, just giving a ball; park figure that may or may not be accurate :)

A good friend who works for Apple told me that you're not allowed to even admit to working for Apple on a public forum - especially an Apple-related one. In fact, I don't think you're even allowed to post.

If Vader/Mohinder are ok to say, are you able to present yourself at any Apple store with CV in hand? and speak to the store manager for any job interest?

Its just that I find the whole online application process poor, not open enough to list my skills etc. Certainly not in the way my CV is constructed (Very nicely if I may say).

Yea/Nah?

See the thing is, although I do not have any specific Apple qualifications. I am preparing to take Support Essentials 10.5.

Do you both think this will help me with any further application?

Cheers for any info. guys.
