I took the 5 to the 1/4 mile track today to see how I'd get on. I'm quite happy with the results, although I think I could get a slightly better time with an improved launch. I'm only running 195 tyres at the moment and sometimes I was having problems launching it off the line.

So the best time was a 12.964s @ 110.6 mph which as far as I was aware is quicker than:

Audi RS4 MK2 (4.2 V8)
Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster
Bentley Continental GT Coupe
BMW M3 Coupe E46
BMW M5 (E39)
BMW Z4M
Honda NSX
Lotus Exige S (S2)
Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R
Porsche 911 (996) Turbo 4 Cabrio
Porsche 911 (996) Carrera 4S (3.6)
Subaru Impreza WRX Sti RB320
Subaru Impreza WRX Type 25

The list goes on. Frankly I feel a it of a tit posting this up, and its not something I would normally do. But I feel with all the people calling BS on the 'stories' where the guy in exotica isn't trying need to realise i'm not a liar.

Anyway. Hopefully with more work on the launch I'll be back in a couple of months or so to try for closer to mid 12's.

How do you like them apples???

We get the point now ;)

Yes your MX-5 is damn quick but I'd still rather own all those cars listed over an MX-5 (not slagging them off because the MX is on my shortlist for my next car).

I've not had it on the rolling road yet so I don't have a solid figure, but based on similar cars I'd guess its around 250bhp at the flywheel so around 260 bhp per tonne.

That is quite impressive, I assume that's on normal gearing, and why the performance is so good for it's power!

I remember going -2 teeth on the rear sprocket of my GSXR1000 which transformed it into a total animal, it topped out at only 150-ish, but holy-moly why they don't gear the standard bikes like this I just don't know!

Nice you have the 'stats' to back it up though!

That wasn't the point in any of his threads though was it? He wasn't saying that his car is superior in every shape and form than exotica which costs 10 times as much.

I think the whole point was to show what company he was able to keep up with on UK roads.

and how much have you spent getting it as fast?

Fabricate a few things yourself and it will be the £1200-1500 area.

Haha, I wish

I reckon all in I've not spent any more than £3k on the turbo kit and assosciated components. Although I got lucky and got the $3500 turbo kit for £900 2nd hand.

I'd really like to be able to fabricate things like that, but there's also a lot to be said for tried and tested to be reliable manifolds.
