Arc Raiders

I'm the same, I don't go looking for PvP and prefer to chill destroying arc etc. For the most part I'm bumping into friendly players but the matchmaking is very odd.

For example, I created a new account using the steam family option. Been levelling a new character, not shot at or defended myself from PvP at all with him. This past weekend I was getting jumped left right and centre. Almost as if my aggression level was on max. Every player I came across opened fire, it was mad. I just ran away and managed to limp to a raider hatch. Every new raid was the same (All on Spaceport mind)

Went back to my main account and decided to go in with just an anvil and a few stims, just incase it was still rife. Nothing, everyone killing arc and helping each other.

So lord knows what's going on with the match making. As always with Arc Raiders, don't trust anyone, don't put yourself in harms way and if you hear a raider flare go off run the opposite way :D
Haha, to be fair I don't mind it too much, definitely adds to the intensity of the game!

Raiders!

Your tentative alliance with the Nomads is progressing by the day. Nomads wander the streets of Speranza, bringing stories, valuable information, and loot to trade. As the ARC presence Topside ever increases in scale, making reliable friends has never been so important.

The 1.36.0 update has just dropped, bringing bug fixes, QoL updates, matchmaking tweaks, new Expedition and Trials Season, and a crossover outfit from the virtual gameshow world of THE FINALS!

What’s New?

  • Expedition 4 - Zenith Outfit
  • Trials Season 5 - Scorta Outfit
  • Solo, Duo, and Trio Matchmaking
  • ARC Raiders & THE FINALS Crossover
  • Store Update - The Triumph Set
  • Store Redesign

Solo, Duo, and Trio Matchmaking

Following your feedback on the Matchmaking survey published in May, we have implemented one of the most requested matchmaking features:

We now track your playstyle separately for Solo, Duo, and Trio rounds, and match you accordingly.

Say you are a friendly solo player, but your two squadmates always want to dominate in trios PvP. Before, being friendly solo could push you into more cooperative trio rounds, and playing PvP-focused in a trio could push you into more PvP-focused solo rounds - so changing squad size meant matchmaking took a bit to adjust.

Now, there's no overlap. You'll be able to go from friendly questing and plant-picking in Solo rounds to adrenaline-fueled PvP Trio games (if that's how you usually play in those respective cases), by simply changing your squad size. The same holds for Duo - all three are tracked on their own.

ARC Raiders & THE FINALS Crossover

Complete a set of Contracts in THE FINALS and unlock the Azimuth outfit and Archeologist backpack bundle in ARC Raiders. Inspired by explorers, Raiders, and Contestants who dare to chase new horizons beyond the stratosphere.

This promotion is available from July 9th 3pm CEST until July 30th 3pm CEST before we flip it around, letting you earn the Azimuth bundle in THE FINALS by playing ARC Raiders.

See you in the Arena... and The Rust Belt!

Bug Fixes & Content Updates

ARC

  • Significantly increased the value of loot dropped by ARC Turbines.
    • Dev note: We've heard your feedback that the ARC Turbine's loot was too low compared to the high effort required to take one down and we agree. That’s why we’ve decided to significantly increase the amount of loot from the ARC Turbine. Happy hunting!
  • Fixed an issue where the ARC Turbine would sometimes disappear right after spawning in.
  • Knockback from Queen & Matriarch stomps will no longer go through walls.

Cosmetic

  • Fixed a clipping issue for the Marco Outfit.
  • Fixed an issue where the Bog Walker Set was missing new colour variants.
    • Over the next few days, we will be issuing refunds to those of you who paid additional Raider Tokens to unlock the new colors. This should be an automated process, and does not require you to do anything.
Items

  • Weapons dropped on the ground now display their installed mods.
  • ARC Turbine parts will no longer drop from Couriers.
  • Higher-value items will now show up on the shelf in the Raider Den, even if you have large stacks of lower-value items that add up to a higher total value than the individual item.

Maps

  • Fixed various spots where players could get stuck or clip through the terrain.
  • Fixed several locations where players fell through the terrain on The Dam close to spawn bunkers.

Quests

  • Fixed an issue where the Quests tab could loop back to the 'Done' screen after claiming a reward and pressing ESC, preventing selection of a new quest.

Social

  • The Emote Wheel now updates availability while open, making it clearer when an emote can be used.
UI

  • Fixed some German localization issues.
  • Improved the Feeding Rewards section in the Scrappy Nest by removing the empty placeholder tile and clarifying messaging when no rewards are available or still pending.
  • Fixed an issue where the HUD visibility option wasn't applied correctly at the start of the round.
  • Fixed an issue where the Show/Hide Tooltip option with a controller in the Logbook stopped working after collapsing and expanding a quest entry.

Known Issues

  • We know some PC players may experience lower FPS than usual.
    • While we investigate, please ensure your GPU drivers are up to date, or, if you’re still experiencing the issue, attempt rolling back to a previous driver version.
  • We are investigating an ongoing issue where some XBOX players (particularly on Series S) are experiencing crashes.
  • The Quick Wheel item selection may suddenly swap to another item on the Wheel when closing the Quick Wheel and re-opening it quickly.
  • The Dolabra, Hullcracker and Rascal do not deal damage to training dummies on Practice Range.
  • The throw animation may sometimes fail to play when attempting to detonate a Trigger ‘Nade immediately after throwing it.
  • Some gadgets and throwables lack a “Cancel” button when preparing to throw them.
  • The weapon swap animation may appear broken if weapon swapping right after vaulting.
  • Player animations may appear broken when interrupting a search of the Baron Husk.
  • Shredders float to the ceiling in some rooms of the Hidden Bunker.
  • Leapers can jump through the ARC Turbine.
  • Occasionally, the Access Capacitor Rack may spawn without interactable batteries.
  • When picking up items, the pickup sound may not be the correct one.
  • When bringing items that give Merits with you into a Raid, the items will wrongfully display a Merits icon.
  • Shots taken while riding ARC may not register correctly.
  • After a player is revived, some Augments’ health restoration effects no longer pause when taking damage.
  • Some doors may allow player flashlights’ beams to pass through instead of blocking the emitted light.
  • Some hairstyles may clip through the Reaver Outfit helmet.
  • The Saltwalker outfit preview in the Forgotten Relics page may incorrectly contain two toggles for each element.
  • We are aware of some clipping issues with the Triumph and Azimuth outfits.
  • Old Ermal offers may appear to be available in the 'Acquire and Craft' menu (visual only).

Maintaining Fair Play

We know Topside can sometimes be dangerous and unpredictable (which is why we love it), but nobody’s a fan of Raiders finding ways to get unfair advantages.

Since our May update on Ensuring Fair Play, we’ve been striving to provide steady updates on how the fight against players who seek unfair advantages is going. Today, we’re taking a moment to recap everything we’ve been up to, and to provide some additional details.

Anti-Cheat and Detection

Over the past few weeks, we’ve completed our rollout of Denuvo Anti-Cheat. It is now enforced for all players, and the results we’ve seen so far have been promising.

Thanks to the efforts of our anti-cheat team, we are continuously getting more effective at identifying & acting against cheaters.

These improvements are the product of constant refinements to our anti-cheat stack (hardware & software detection, ML-driven input telemetry analysis and much, much more).

Handling & Preventing Item Duplication

Like with anti-cheat, we are always working against duplication exploits. We’re keeping a close eye on the game economy, and constantly catalogue, investigate and seek to counteract exploits.

Recently, we’ve fixed some exploits related to duplication. We always want to make sure fixes are widely effective, so we make sure to monitor and evaluate our success before sharing that progress with you.

Evolving “No Free Loadouts”

Sometimes, going into a high-value map condition and encountering raiders with free kits can also feel unfair. Since 1.33.0, we have introduced the experimental “No Free Loadout” requirement for Night Raid and Close Scrutiny. We’ve seen your reactions, and we’re taking your feedback into account.

We are looking into expanding “No Free Loadout” to more map conditions and investigating other opportunities to further improve the experience overall. We really appreciate the feedback you have been sharing in the survey from last week and we will keep you in the loop once we have new changes for you to try.

What’s Next?

There is yet more work to be done, of course. When we can, we want to share more of our progress on all of these initiatives. As you may have noticed, you now receive an in-game Action Notice when we’ve taken action against someone you reported. We’re also continuing to compensate for loot lost to cheaters, regardless of whether you reported them or not.

These are separate parts of the same system. We will continue to provide progress updates when we can, and we’re thankful for your efforts in reporting and informing us about unlawful behavior.

See you Topside,

//Ossen

and The ARC Raiders Team

I did not get the Mk. 3 Survivor on this go round, so with the new expedition coming up, I decided to burn 1500 seeds and get a BP from the marketplace, and stuff it in an expedition pocket. Transaction was smooth, my next raider will be the proud owner of Mk. 3 Survivor BP.
I immediately set about wrapping up the final week of trials so I could make Hotshot, and got a Mk. 3 Survivor BP as a 3 star reward, so I guess I'm taking two with me :D

That BP is the flip coin for most raiders facing expedition! The thing is since they fixed the bug with it I don't think it's as essential as it used to be, although it has saved my butt on one occasion, evey other time I've crawled within throwing distance of an extract and run out of time.

I got it the BP from a 3 star trial a month or so ago and the next day found one in the most contested room on Blue Gate 'reinforced reception'. That is the 2nd time I have looted it, every other time I've been given it by generous raiders.

What was the bug?

You used to be able to sort of glitch crawl with it, by tapping forwards and that would allow you to move further with less drain of your life. It is now steady drain when moving, so you'll need to stop to recover more often.
It's still useful for the ablity to extract when you might not otherwise, but for me the main reason I lik it is good capacity, 5 x quick slots, an additional utility slot, 3 x safe pockets and the option to use a medium shield.
I made out OK using Looting Mk 2 pretty much all the time, only swapping to a combat Aug for medium shields when I was hunting larger ARC.

At the minute I'm thinking:
  • Survivor Mk 3 x 2 (I'll either sell one for seeds, or perhaps keep for the following expedition).
  • Anvil BP.
  • Extended barrel 3 BP.
  • Bettina BP.

So what's the skinny on Arc? I stepped away after the first few months and never felt the pull to come back. My prediction of 10% player base inside a year has now become true way ahead of schedule, it's down to like 30k players concurrent on steam now. I felt like I got my hours in with this game but is there anything worth going back for? Where's @Tombstone at, are you still playing? :)

I still drop in when I fancy some shooting action, still my favourite online shooter to play, however, considering that in the next 2 months I have Mortal Shell 2, Silent Hill Townfall, Control Resonant, Dawn of War 4, Breathedge 2, Alien Fireteam 2, Star Wars Zero Company, Blood of Dawnwalker and Resonance Plague Tale to play, Arc is likely to be moved aside for those titles. Not really a critique on Arc that though, as I rarely play any game for more than a few months these days. In my younger gaming days I would play a particular title for 6 months, 12 months, more etc..but by doing that I missed out on so many titles that came out while I was obsessed with the one game, so in recent years I am far more of a variety gamer

Not played it for months now, I logged in once to try whatever new map it was and that's it.

I had a lot of fun and reckon it is a great game but once you start hitting a wall with it, I don't feel like it's a game you can casually wade in to for an hour here or there, you need to be playing it regularly or not at all.

I've not played for about 2/3 months as I had done everything ready for the expedition.

I was all ready for it to see that they have removed the skill points so with this removed I never bothered logging in and doing this 1.

They removed the extra 5 skill points if you are on your 4th expedition. If you are on 1sr/2nd/3rd then you get 5 Skill points.

I'm still playing, less frequently though, which I don't mind.
I did the expedition, and will likely do the next, which should come around the same time as the next real update.
That next update does need to deliver some significant content though, if they want a bi-yearly major update schedule to work. It will need to be more than just a new map, enemies & weapons if they want to get numbers up somewhat again.

Still playing daily, although not as intense as I was. Maybe an hour a day, where as I was doing 3+ hours a day. Only on lvl 26 since last expedition.

That's not a reflection on the game as I don't (or rarely) play anything else, just had a lot going on lately.

A lot of players and more so ex players are waiting on this big October update, will be interesting to see where the game goes from there.

Embark have posted some details about the large incoming update for October..

Frozen Trail is coming October 8!

August 12, 2026

e3b333c7-1a2f-ARC%20Raiders_Blog_Header_DevUpdate_1920x622_3-1024x332.png

Greetings from Embark, Raiders!

As we head toward October, the Frozen Trail update draws closer. We wanted to take a moment to share what we’ve been working on since we communicated how we’re changing updates.

Back in May, we shared that we’d be moving to fewer, larger updates. We know that means longer stretches between major releases, and we appreciate everyone who has stuck with us while we’ve continued to ship new content like projects, events, a new Trader, and ongoing improvements based on your feedback!

Behind the scenes, our focus has been firmly on Frozen Trail. It’s going to be our biggest update since launch, and it’s been designed to address some of the broader questions that the community has been asking. Nearly every part of the game has benefited from what we’ve learned over the past few months. Here’s a look at some of what we’ve been working on.

The Next Frontier

At the heart of Frozen Trail is our newest map. Shani will call upon Raiders to investigate an unprecedented signal emanating from beyond the mountains. Something big has happened here – could anyone resist being a part of the initial scouting party?

ArcRaiders_ScreenShot_16x9_04-1024x576.jpg

Explore a harsh, frozen settlement nestled beneath towering mountains at the edge of the Rust Belt. Once home to thriving villages, factories, research facilities, and an observatory, long since abandoned.

Building the new map has challenged our level design team in exciting new ways. We’ve focused on creating an ambitious environment with greater verticality, exploration, and opportunities for discovery. You’ll encounter threats above and below ground, and navigate environments that no Raiders have seen before.

We’ve recently completed a round of user experience research testing, and our team is currently iterating to ensure the new map is as exciting as possible.

New High-level Challenge

The Frozen Trail update will also introduce an enormous new ARC Operation designed for experienced Raiders looking to push themselves even further.

Without giving too much away, this new activity is built around many of the ideas that have become increasingly important to us throughout development: meaningful decisions, dynamic encounters, and moments that demand cooperation and careful judgment.

Success won’t come easily. You’ll need to balance combat, teamwork, risk, and survival in what we believe will be one of the most intense experiences ARC Raiders has offered to date – one that rewards those willing to rise to the challenge.

We’ll save more details for the full reveal later – but we’re excited for you to experience it for yourselves.

New ARC, New Threats

Our team has been hard at work developing new ARC threats that will arrive alongside the new map, each designed to challenge the ways you’ve learned to move, fight, and adapt. These new ARC enemies range from a small and nifty problem-maker to an enormous machine that will halt you in your tracks.

Creating new ARC is one of the more involved parts of development. From early concepts and animation to behavior and machine learning systems that give them their distinctive “spark of life”, every enemy goes through months of iteration to get right. We think it’ll be worth the wait, and we can’t wait to see what you think.

Deepening Progression

Frozen Trail is also evolving what it means to be a Raider.

One lesson that’s continued to shape our thinking is that the most rewarding raids are driven by meaningful choices. That’s influenced how we’re approaching progression throughout Frozen Trail, allowing you to build a deeper identity in the Rust Belt.

Your Raider Den has served you well, but it’s time to expand. We're building deeper progression systems, giving players more ways to craft their own journey and build toward long-term goals.

That’s why your Raider will have the opportunity to inhabit a new space; the Outpost. After spending months on the back foot, hiding underground, it’s time to start taking the fight to ARC. Decorate your Outpost, research new elements of the world, and take your first steps to reclaiming the surface.

On top of Outposts, we’re also adjusting the Skill Tree to give you more agency over the kind of Raider you want to become. Raider Decks have also been on our radar, with the focus on making them more engaging and rewarding for players.

And More…

These are just a few of the additions coming in Frozen Trail.

The team is continuing to work on new content that will enhance your experience, as well as new weapons (and ways to personalize them!), gadgets, cosmetics, instruments, and plenty of other surprises we’ll talk about closer to launch.

Alongside all of that, we'll continue improving the core ARC Raiders experience through ongoing work on matchmaking, anti-cheat, stability, and quality-of-life updates. While these improvements may not always be the headline features, they remain a critical part of making every raid feel balanced and enjoyable.

You’ll be able to experience Frozen Trail for yourself on October 8, and we will be sharing more details with you in September.

Until then, if you’re heading to gamescom in Cologne, come say hello! We’d love to meet you and see you experience ARC Raiders in person.

See you topside,

Aleksander Grøndal

Executive Producer

I might pick this up again in October.

As it'll be colder/darker then I tend to naturally play more games over the winter period anyway.

Come play Hunt Showdown, you'd like it I reckon. It's the same as ARC in spirit but better in reality. Not sure at this rate if ARC will even have a player base by winter.
