Are Croissant's pointless? (Breakfast)

availibility of good butter croissant in the UK is poor ... in France with saturday shop buy box of carrefour/supermarket butter ones or pain aux chocolat combo box,
with the volume, even supermarkets make from scratch; usually re-warm on later days, cutting in half in wide toaster.

you know the calories are there even if they eat too easily - self-discipline.

I agree. It's mental how some continental-types have a flimsy pastry and a strong coffee for breakfast. How do they make it to 10am, let alone lunchtime  ?

I've found the only thing that gets me to lunch without snacking is oats of some form. Overnight oats, with 1/2 a banana, handful of blueberries, some almonds and honey on top is my weekday go-to. Porridge at the weekend, occasionally granola.

But yeah, pastries or sugary cereal is just lols.

No, they are delicious.

I don’t think the point of eating them is to feel full and ready for a day in the fields. Obviously a full English/Scottish or some form of other breakfast is more filling. But croissants etc are delicious and have their place.

If you've ever spent a significant amount of time in the likes of France, Italy , Portugal etc

The answer is cigarettes lol

Years ago (it may still be there), there was a small stall in Liverpool Street stn, it may have been a mini Pret type place that did croissants with ham and cheese filling, they were fantastic, since I had a couple of them, I've never eaten a regular one since and nowhere near me sells filled versions, upside downy face.

the garage near me used to have a chest type freezer in the shop and all it had in it was loose frozen bread/pastry, the croissants/pain au chouc and pecan plait were great but they refurbed the shop recently and got rid of the freezer :(
tried some frozen croissant/pain au choc from Morrisons but they're rubbish...frozen ones from Coop weren't too bad, not tried the Jus-Rol things for ages but from memory they're the worst :p

I've not had a cronut but Aldi had what was advertised a cross between a roll and a croissant.
When cooking it smelt amazing but eating it was just like a crap brioche.

Cro-ffle is really good, was really trendy in Korea a couple years back. Cross between a croissant and a waffle. You can even add chocolate inside.

There's a restuarant/cafe in Coventry that does savoury and sweet Croffles of various descriptions, ridiculously delicious food.

I love them but view them as not being worth their calories / fat. Same as cream, cakes, ice cream, chocolate and various others.
I could eat them all day but stop myself.

Anyone else just not eat breakfast? I'm honestly more low on energy and hungrier come lunchtime if I eat breakfast than if I don't.

Do lovely a nice buttery croissant however.

2 Weetabix and 0% fat Icelandic yoghurt every day.

Sometimes with a sliced banana mixed in.

Sometimes with Bran Flakes to bulk it out if I am really hungry.

Feel nauseous if I don't eat breakfast, usually cereal but trying to eat different things more often like smoothies and eggs.

Quite like a croissant or pain au chocolat but its a snack, wouldn't have it for breakfast.

Yup, pushing close to maybe 25 years without eating regular breakfast, there are exceptions here and there but i'm never hungry in the morning and the times I do eat, just makes me more sluggish and lethargic for a few hours.
