Are earnings too low / living costs getting too high??

That headline is nuts, no it's not the end for Kodi.

The end for Kodi fully loaded boxes, probably, but not the end of Kodi.

Those supposed figures of Kodi users being 55+ is bonkers.

I was thinking of getting a Kodi box when I moved into my new place few months ago...but in the end went with BT for £45/m for TV/Internet, biggest reason being so I could record TV shows and watch them later.

Agreed with the other posts, its annoying having half of footy games on BT sport and the other half on Sky Sports. That's where Mobdro + Miracast comes in handy. :)

I wish there was a platform for sports, like Netflix but where it showed literally every sporting event that is televised, so you could say watch any NBA game you want, any NHL game etc and of course all of the domestic football etc.

You that would never happen in the UK as BSkyB would be upset and make no money. Probably do everything in their power to stop a competitor for doing so but that type of service is needed over here.

as someone who legally pays for Sky TV I'm getting a bit fed up with it

I'd like to watch SkyTV on my laptop when I travel with work but it's blocked outside of the UK
When I'm in the UK, I have to watch in SD as HD is not supported. Not to mention half the channels are not available.

The mrs has an iPad so I borrowed that for the week, unfortunately certain things on my planner are not able to be downloaded to the iPad (such as the second to most recent F1 race)

anyway, so the kids are watching TV downstairs so I decide to grab the iPad and watch the football on BT Sports. Nope, BT Sports and some other channels are prevented from working on the app. Luckily I have the BT Sport app, but there are no apps for the other channels.

In contrast Kodi and Torrents offer superior quality and superior device support whilst being significantly cheaper

How can something which is free be better than something which costs a lot of money. Usually you put up with certain limitations because of the price, but this is the other way around.

I saw a demo of the mibox3 running the upcoming kodi release which looks fantastic, makes you think

^I'd go with this too. I currently subscribe to sky and am increasingly finding it a very dated and poor concept. Only kept viable by the exclusive sporting content (which personally, i dont watch either).

We have something close to that here, it's called DAZN, launched last year.

Get Premiership, La Liga, Serie A, FA Cup, Premiership Rugby, European Rugby, Six Nations, NFL, NHL, NBA, MMA, and loads of other stuff all in HD for 9.99 EUR a month. Obviously don't get Bundesliga 1 or the premium stuff that Sky Sports own here, but it's still great value.

That sounds ludicrously cheap. I find it hard to believe it's legal, and if it's not legal, then who the hell would pay for illegal content!

It does not even make me think, I wholeheartedly threw myself into Kodi and its associated add ons which does everything I want from a TV screen and content provider.

The funny thing is, now that I'm in my 30s and have money, it's 1000% not about freeloading any more. If I had to pay 50 bucks a month for something like Kodi (ad free and an overload of content), I would do so without thinking twice.

I remember when True Detective 2 came out a few years ago. The was my last year ever of a Sky subscription, I couldn't even watch that. I had to pay for yet another channel on top of my subscription so I could actually watch it. In the end it would've cost me something like 70-80 a month (NZD) to really just view a series or two that entire year, but had to sign up to that particular channel for 12 months. I gave up and just pirated the damn thing.

So, whenever this whole content mess sorts itself out, I'm ready and willing to pay!

Interesting turn this thread took :p

Which is where most of the expense is going to and reasons why it keeps going up every year.

If people stopped watching sports then it would save them loads on subscription TV.

Stop watching sports? You're having a laugh. With football being the number one sport in the country, good luck with that. Its tribal.

Exactly my point, Sky knows where their bread is buttered and everyone pays out their nose for it. Any alternative comes along legal or not they want to shut it down or limit the access to it.

Thankfully Im not into football or anything like that so i have plenty of money to do other things :)
