Are OcUK one of the best quality forums?

ahh i see.

somebody else told me... they noticed suspended below me name.. :) i was gutted...nah.. but i think at the time i was really into a certain thread...i dunno :)

Any particular reason? I would have thought system/network constraints, but considering it's for a computing forum which excels in selling only the highest quality stuff I find it hard to believe.

Whats the reason? It's so much better with it.

And genuinely innocuous remarks don't get deleted. I talk loads of crap and barely any of it gets deleted, because I don't tend to break rules..

anyway further to Ota's kind invitation to mail him, I have. Expect to see me suspended,yet again, or perhaps banned this time.
 
I must say these are the most pleasant forums I have ever visited. I don't know whether it's down to the friendly people on and off screen, the vast opinions, the control of content, the people who always have similar interests or what...but maybe it's a combination of all the above.

It was for the thread regarding Steve Finnan and Racial Abuse in the sports section I believe. The same thread I was suspended in, I believe, for quoting you and then adding to it, albeit with starred words and a letter, which I didn't know was against the rules at the time.
 
I like these forums, and the fact that if you post a query it's bound to get answered by someone, even if it isn't entirely helpful. Some forums you just wont get a reply, that's the end of.
Limit on the sig size is great as well, one guy in a forum i'm also on had a 4mb PNG sig ffs : /.

Cons of the forum;
- too many girl topics :D
- some threads get hijacked/or they're pretty naff to start with anyway.
 
Another thing is, that OcUK is a business and for a business to have such great forums that people can go on for FREE to help each other, have a laugh and even meet for drink or a BBQ is outstanding.

I wonder what % of people used the fourms as a result of buying from OcUK.

well me for starters. ive bought a fair few things of ocuk.. after my first buy noticed a forum.. took me ages to sign up though...
 
i like it here because it doesn't descend into the slanging matches and flame wars other forums can become. It just allows decent discussion to go on.

Personally i find the rules a bit too family friendly, but then this places covers such a wide audience i can understand and accept them.
 
As much I enjoy the forums, I am adament that we should be allowed slighty bigger signature sizes - 500x100 would do me.

We could eliminate some of the people who post purely to pick at other people.

I've seen threads picking on the OP, then the rest of the thread is spammed how they should do it, extracting the urine out the OP because they didn't know how to do what they wanted to know - just petty things like that.
 
I think the forums are one of the better around. It's ultimately the community here that keep people posting IMO.

Is there a difference between "Banned" and "PermaBanned" or are they one in the same?
 
Middle of the road in some respects.
What really gets my goat is how when anyone asks for a 200 quid this or a 100 quid that someone will always come in with an elitist attitude which simply belittles the OP's budget constraints...I know if I had worked hard for my money to save for something I dont want to hear from someone coming in and saying save 10x more and you can have the worlds very best, when something already stated will actually do.
Also the standard tag team type heated debates where if you happen to disagree you get the other parties close mate in to come and help knock you down which I dont see in other forums I frequent.

On a positive note there are an equal amount of people who actually know their backsides from their elbows and are helpful to balance the odd tards.

I agree. I've noticed a lot of OP attacking recently. Perhaps an update on the "trolling" rule is in order?
 
Apart from the brown nosing, vanishing threads, over policing and overly strict rules I love it here :D
