Are OcUK one of the best quality forums?

Speeking for yourself there are you Treefrog :D

I had one white hair pop up a few weeks back, only one mind so that can not count surely :p
 
It's great quality, but not the best imo, mainly due to the fact people are a bit lazy ( I am too lol) and don't reply to all threads they see, on other forums I get stuff like 3 reply's on 5 view's or so, ie. one of the 2 users reply's after reading something, here a lot of people just read and dont reply...
But this may have to do this is a pc forum, with a lot of people just seeking for info, or just don't know the awner to a question...

Don't care about the swearies tbh, they never annoy me or so, attacking otehr users does though, but I sometimes swear without noticing tbh, when i had 50 posts or so i got banned for a week once due to swearies, I've looked through my post and could only find one of the 2 and edit it when someone warned me, really didn't notice the 2nd, and got suspended for a week cos of it...

Also I think the family rules are a bit unneeded, I mean I wouldnt care for any nude pics in the post random pics thread or whatever, I mean I agree this shouldn't be a pron forum, but some stuff I think you are a bit too strict to...

But it are nice forums genrally ;) .

only thing that "grind my gears" is how negative it is sometimes on here , mainly new people getting shot down or if you venture into a different part of the forum foe help. especially people accusing each other of lying etc

crap just realised how old this is , ive probably even posted in it before :o :p

Well if you have a forum with 12 people on it then most people will be able to read everything and reply to it with very few views to any topic, here I expect generally a reply in GH for every 10-12 views or so if the question isn't too hard. Remember also that there is no real point in replying to threads that have already been answered, whether that is on the first reply or the thirty-third. :)

Do you have anywhere in mind? I don't think people get "shot down" in GH much for a lack of knowledge. :)
 
Most 'good' forums have a more personal bias then this. Apart from 'dont do links to uk computers stores' this place seems fairly chilled in general.

I dont think it qualifies as massive on the international scale, I noticed the forza forum had 22k people online :o
 
i've tried a few forums but i always come back to this one.

Good variety of topics, loads of members, and some good humour does it for me :cool:
 
I really like the OcUK forums. I find them really good fun as there are lots of inside jokes, etc. and it is a friendly atmosphere.

I have looked into other forums and I have found very few which I have stayed on, so OcUK must be doing something well.

I find that OcUK is a good thing to talk about in real life. :o

Was at another forum late last night and there was a post about ISP's. Within that thread someone asked how much you can upload with x speed. I answered but forgot to change it into bytes. Needless to say someone picked me up on it and I said sorry for my mistake and went to bed. This morning there was a huge flame war about how "kb != KB" and that "It doesn't matter" :confused:
 
Over in my toolbar I must be a member of 30 different forums including Satellite, Heavy Metal, NTHell, Kerrazy, Planet Rock, Home Recording etc but none have the wealth of topics that OCUK has.
There are clever people everywhere but personally I think OCUK has some of the cream on here and even when topics go over my head I still like to read the expertise of others.
 
Can get frustrating sometimes in GD with the 'stupid' threads.

But it's always fun to sit down with two slices of heavily buttered toast and a strong but sweet cup of tea and just ploughing through. :)

I like OCUK forums!
 
Difficult one.

It is certainly an interesting forum but it does have some problems from my perspective. I was suspended for some reason a while back and have no idea why. No e-mails explaining it at all. There is a an undercurrent of racism and homophobia that I personally find distasteful. Far too many personal attacks still for my liking and far too much use of the rolleyes smilie.

On the positives however it is certainly a very helpful forum, it is also a very varied forum. It is also a very busy forum. However it is also now on my works banned list so it is a forum I can only really check in the evenings and weekends.
