Are petrol stations having a laugh?

Couldn't be bothered to post this in the E10 dedicated thread, there is also a link in the opening post of the thread where you can check if your car is compatible.

Crude oil is around $70 atm, that is one more reason why petrol is expensive at the moment.
If I still had my previous car that used to do 12mpg in the city I would be crying :p

Just been petrol station and there was a choice of E10 petrol or super unleaded. E10 is for post 2011 cars, my car is 2010 so I didn't know if I could take the E10 forcing me to go for the more expensive super unleaded. (140.9p/litre)

Now Sainsburys inform that its not actually E10 yet, it just said so on the pump? And they've given me a little leaflet thing where you can look up your car.

But this is the thing- 5% of cars are NOT approved for E10.
So these 5% of cars because of this E10 have to select the more expensive petrol of Super Unleaded.
That seems wrong. Yes this E10 will be marvellous and all that saving carbon emissions with this bio addition, but essentially penalising the incompatible cars seems wrong. I hope all petrol stations aren't going to do this. E10 OR super Unleaded.

Most cars made after 2000 are fine, and all after 2010 are fine - https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-e10-petrol

My car always gets filled with the jungle juice anyway. It would be interesting to see the math of e5 premium fuel mpg Vs e10 bottom of the barrel. Might even be cheaper to use v power.

All my cars are petrol and all recommend 98 Ron so I am destined to be poor :p.
