If it did throttle at 100, then would it do much harm taking it to 85 - 90?
I know colder is better, but if they can work at these temps, it should be ok, right?
It' like a GO hitting 70 - 75.
I think it would depend on the other temps in your setup as Intel do all their testing with ambient case temps of no more than 38.5c IIRC. If the air inside the case gets above that and the chipsets, PWM areas etc all get very hot then it's probably not worthwhile keeping an overclock producing so much heat.
I've just switched the fan off my TT and it's already climbed from ~58c to 70c in a matter of minutes so it just shows how much help the fan is even at low RPM! The TT aluminium fins are getting quite hot.
I didn't look at cpu-z, i was using CPUmark which shows temps,load,multi,v-core and throttling. My multi stayed at x9.
Temps are the same as coretemp but the VID shows .063v less than CPU-z.
my q6600 B3 runs at around the late 30cs idle and load 56c or so and thats even under water. Is this normal ? is the q6600 (B3) just a hot chip ? hope so i remounted 4 times with no differnce in temps at all.
I have had so much trouble trying this screenshot, every time I tried to open the last application it crashed. I'v had to reduce the FSB so now its @ 2.94GHz.
Also my E6400 has died!
The RJ45 connector from modem to router has broken & is now held in with tape.
Q6600 G0 on an IP35-E@3GHz, 40-45idle, 60-65 all cores loaded. Using Scythe Ninja+120mm fan and 2 120mm case fans. Stock volts save for 2.2v on RAM and 1.29v on MCH (running 2x1GB and 2x512MB DIMMS @4-4-4-12 800mHz). About the temps I was expecting tbh.
Why can't I set voltages lower than stock on this board? Am I missing something?
si mats you say 2x1GB & 2x512MB but your sig shows 2x1Gb Geil PC6400 |
2x512mb Ballistix PC5300 |
Is that a typo or can you run 6400 & 5300 together. The reason I ask I have 2x512 Ballistix 5300 spare & if you can mix them I'll stick them in with my Geil 6400.
