Are scars cool?

Penski, beadle hand? explain this one as it's gone right over my head.

jeremy beadle has an underdeveloped hand/arm.

for years, any injured body part has been 'beadled' amongst my circle of friends.

sprained your ankle? ouch...sounds like a nasty case of beadlefoot.

oh and have a fresh crop circle and some fresh/semi-healed flowers:

scarification can take years to 'settle' so it can look slightly patchy/uneven at first.

plus every person heals differently. some people get big, beautiful keloids...I get white, recessed or ribbed scars.

personally, I think the tactile nature of scarification is very sexy.

but then again, I have a bit of a *thing* for birth defects too...

I think my previous reply can be recycled for this.

are you actually going to contribute anything or just sit in the corner and roll your eyes?

Scars (in my opinion) are not cool.

You just seem to always have to make threads about something like this. Attention seeking TBH.

You like piercings/mutilation/whatever. We get it.

How do the scars fare if the individual puts on weight?

depends on what it is, where it is, how deep it as and how you scar as an individual.

on me, they would just stay in place and deform a little.

on an individual who keloids heavily, they would stay quite rigid, I would imagine.

there wego; that is all the thread asked.

I think you need to look at who actually started the thread...

and far from 'always seem to', I can only recall the 'new tattoo...' thread of late which is, to be completely blunt, no different from any of the dozens of new kid/pet/house threads which litter GD.

are you being hypocritical or are you simply expressing your dislike for the subject matter at hand by using the basest of insults?

You like piercings/mutilation/whatever. We get it.

see...aren't things so much easier when you actually grow a spine and say what you mean?

that may be so but it would be churlish to brand (excuse the pun) the entirity of the artform based on a single piece.

who did it?

...or was it an emo-diy job with a pencil sharpener?

I won't link but go to google, search for modblog, use the 'scarification' filter on the left hand side and you will see that there are a few incredibly talented individuals producing beautiful, deeply intricate work.

Do you actually think scarification is 'cool' or do you just like it?
Tattoos and piercings for instance aren't cool (been around forever and 'everyone' has them now), yet they at least follow fashion, unless you class fashion as cool.
Which is it for scarification?

i really really like scarrification, and branding
if it's well done it can be more 'beautiful' than any other form of body art
it's something i would love to consider, but i think it would have to be done 'stateside' as so few places will consider performing it over here

(unless you know of anywhere penski...?)

Some shop in worthing (town down south) i believe it was mentioned in bizarre magazine i think its called pins and needles there ment to be really good but as you said people heal differently, didn't look that pretty to me.

I find some scarification aesthetically pleasing. I find some attractive. some actually gives me the horn.

I've never been able to qualify 'cool' as a term or description relevant to the way I think because I can only really think of 'cool' as a concept derived from how you wish others to perceive you.

I don't consider the opinions of others so I cannot describe something as 'cool' (unless we are referring to temperature :/) because that thought process just isn't there.

Do you mean nothing can be cool to you then?
From reading the majority of threads you start or interject in I thought you were all about other people's perception of you & yours, that's not a slight by the way :)

Got a 1 inch scar right in the middle of my forehead, from hitting a corner of a cabinet when was around 4. Have a burn on my chest that looks like a backwards letter "S". Have a scar on the back of my head as well but that's covered with hair and have a few, "only visible if you look at them" scars there and then.

as I said, I can't seem to qualify 'cool'...if it is merely something that I like then many things are cool...the only feasible description of 'cool' (in my eyes) is related to the opinion of you held by others.

I simply know what I like, am proud of what I like and like sharing what I like.

if you like it too then that's fine. if you don't like it and you give reasons ('i think a, b, c...I would change it by doing x, yz' et cetera) then that's fine too.

if you just go 'omgzorz that is ****! you must be mentally ill!!!!1' (which unfortunately happens quite often) then I tend to fly off the handle a bit.
