Think I will avoid adapter and rather buy ATX 3.0 PSU with native 12VHPWR power cable just to be safe. You really dont want to try out 12VHPWR power adapter on ATX 2.0 PSU and see your house on fire.
There's also option C, many PSU manufacturers (plus Cablemods) are bringing out 12VHPWR modular cables for existing ATX2.x PSUs that can handle it.

Just ordered the 1650W version from OcUK, will be interesting to see if I can nab a 4090 after It arrives. Not going to mess around with older power supplies without the PCIE 5.0 cable this gen.

I read lots of horror stories about generic cables from Cablemods, ModDIY and others brands on Corsair PSUs caused melted pins. It seemed Cablemods and ModDIY did not mentioned anything about cable warranty.

I rather stick with official Corsair cables. I just found Corsair announced they will offer 12VHPWR cables for Corsair PSUs with Type 4 cables.

The Corsair cable compatible chart is very confused said AX series is compatible with both Type 3 and Type 4 cables. Years ago I read posts on Corsair forum that someone said AX860 cables is Type 3 and Type 4 not compatible but now after did some googling found questions/answers on amazon seller confirmed Corsair Type 4 cables will work with AX860.

Guess I will order it when it go live 29 September on Corsair UK website, should be cost about £19 for Corsair 12VHPWR cable.

Isn't the cable your talking about for the 3000 series?
Yes ModDIY 12 pin cable for RTX 3000 series Founder Edition

Cablemod 24 pin cable for motherboard

Corsair strongly advised people not purchase generic cables because it can be very dangerous caused pins, cable meltdown or fire. It would violated PSU and GPU warranties.

I am surprised hundreds people took risk to buy generic cables everyday to make cables look cool. Same things happened to people avoided overpriced genuine Apple iPhone chargers and cables on Apple Store and decided went to buy cheap fake generic iPhone chargers and cables instead then plug it in and chargers exploded turned into fire, cables melted. It not worth risk.

I will rather buy official genuine Corsair cables direct from Corsair or retailers just to be safe.

Whoa just read ModDIY terms and condition on warranty, all ModDIY cables only get 6 months warranty!!!

Cablemod cables get 1 year warranty.

Corsair offer 2 years warranty on cables.

I've just ordered the same one, figured it might future proof me a bit longer than the 1200w one.

I've got the 1000W Toughpower GF3 on order, should be arriving early October cost £176. Looks like the Toughpower GF3 are quite decent from the eteknix review.
