Are you a supermarket snob?

Lidl for most shopping which is a pretty laid back experience until you get to the tills and have your purchases scanned at just below Mach 1.

A few luxury bits or things Lidl doesn’t sell from Intermarché, though there’s a new Netto opened a little closer that seems to be mid-way between Lidl and Intermarché in both range of products and pricing.

Aldi - > Lidl - > Asda

In order of preference, prefer certain items in different stores, lidl burger buns are better than aldi, Aldis frozen pizza and curries are better than lidl. Fruit veg milk is all the same for the most part. Asda for the odd thing they don't have like fish cakes

Any shop needs self checkout though

In the past month I have shopped in Tesco, Sainsbury, Lidl, Aldi, Morrisons and Asda, I'll go wherever, but usually I go to Welling so I can do Morrisons and Tesco in one trip.
As you can tell from my location, I know those very well, I find both very average supermarkets. In fact, I don’t think any supermarket in this particular area is that great. If you need to do a proper weekly or longer shop, you’re better off driving up to Crayford, where you have the big Sainsbury’s and Aldi’s

Tesco as its nearby and I have an account so online is easier when you've used them before.

Don't really go to aldi or lidl as they don't do online.
Wish they did.

Went to spar other day as collecting a parcel and was desperate for some orange juice.
Looked similar to the tesco one. Absolutely rancid. Tastes like half way between normal orange juice and sunny delight.
Spar is generally grim. All Fruit in plastic too.

Sainsburys
M&S

These are my main two stores, Waitrose is a complete con, same produce at a massively inflated price.

I used to use Aldi/Lidl in the beginning because they were so cheap and the hit in quality was worth the savings but these days the price is barely cheaper other supermarkets and the quality is still sub par.

Yeah I have to say I agree on waitrose.
Used to be nearest so used it for top up shops. The tesco finest was better than the waitrose stuff but cheaper.

Tend to use Ocado for the main weekly shop. And then if we need anything else our nearest store is a Tesco so just pop to that.

Not a snob though, if something else was closer we'd go to that. Historically my favourite supermarkets have been Morrison's.

and if so/not, which are your preferred ones?

I detest Asda, I'll drive an extra 10 miles to avoid one and opt for any alternative but most likely a Sainsburys or Aldi. A mixture of clientele and the sheer volume of them, ignorant staff, confusing store layout and useless so called self service areas which now either have conveyor belts or are too small to actually fit your shopping onto. I say so called because I've never used one without requiring assistance of some form.

However, right across the road from my local Asda is an Aldi. Great little shop, got everything I need at a cheaper price, I'll be served by a human and the car park is always near empty... It makes me wonder why more don't shop there?!

In order of prefernce these days I'd have to say:
Sainsburys
Aldi
Lidl
Tesco
Probably I am.
I go to Sainsburies round here, mostly because its a nice bright airy store with wide aisles. The Morrisons here is just soo cramped. I can never find what I want in Aldi/Lidle.
I do often drive to the next town up the A3 to visit their Waitrose every soo often.

I hate supermarket shopping so much I will only go into one physically at 11pm onwards, getting most of our delivered weekly since COVID times.

Saturday and Sunday day time is madness in any supermarket around here.

I've got the full gamut of shops within 12 miles. I usually get most of what I need from M&S and pick up a few things from Aldi. I've noticed a definite problem with fruit and veg from most supermarkets, pretty tasteless, no shelf life and often one or two pieces of fruit already rotten . This led to me getting those items from the local greengrocer who gets his stock fresh each day from the Glasgow Fruit Market, a bit more expensive but totally worth it.

Convenience wins out for me, I generally go Sunday mornings, get to Morrisons about 10.30, get the bits I like from there and then head over to Tesco for 11. I agree they are not the best, but they generally have what I want between the two.

We chop and change all the time between Sainsbury, Tesco, ASDA, M&S, Aldi and Morrisons, with an occasional pop into the local Waitrose.
We also travel outside our area to an ASDA or Tesco that have a good stock of Asian/World foods and also travel out to those listed above that have self service.
