Are you Advanced?

My toilet is pretty advanced, It allows me to goto the loo without having to crouch and increases cleanliness ... frankly it's one of the most advanced inventions humans have ever made.

Smart phone is not new of advanced. The core function of the latest smart phone is the same as the iPhone 1 (or a Nokia N95) that came out 7-8 years ago. There has been more features such as NFC, fingerprints, higher res etc but it runs apps the same way as it was before.

I don't see anything that you can buy as the future, if you can buy it now then it is present, the only difference is you are an early adopter.

The closest thing I can think of is the beta tester at the moment for Google Glass.

There were plenty of smart phones well before as well.

I use the YouTube app on my phone to control the YouTube app on my TV. It's the stop gap before tv'a cons with touch screen remotes that are kinda a cross between an iTouch or whatever the iPhone that can't phone it's called and a mouse trackpad...

I've got a shower with a clock on it, and it has a little blue light on the front.

And an electric hole punch, put a bit of paper in a slot and it makes two little holes in it

I've forgotten why I ever needed to do that though

I use a lot of features on smart phones that people seem to ignore, such as setting it up so it automatically gets set to vibrate when at work, silent at night, turns wifi on/off when I arrive/leave home etc.

Mind blown!! it’s not that I have ignored that you could do things like that it’s that I did not even know you could do anything as cool as that. but outside using apps I never seen any use for them, I have an iphone (work gave me one) but other than the wifi broadcasting (which I use 1-3 times a year tops) I use no other things on it that a 1998 nokia would not really do.
Same with my tablet (not an ipad), I have one but I pretty much never use it 99% of the time. I am on my full PC at work or using my full PC at home. If I am out doing something else like riding my bike or ice-skating or at the gym why do I need technology invading my space/time when doing those activities?

I still have CD/dvd/Blu-ray drives on all the PC’s I use. They never really get used other than putting windows onto them; I am not advanced enough to have my windows on usb sticks for installations or anything yet. I do have a central NAS computer that sits on the landing that gets used by every pc/device on the network for storage and streaming and wired networking and 2 sets of powerline networking things to give 100% wifi coverage anywhere in the house and garden for the internet for all wireless devices and that pretty radical compared to the average user of computers I guess. But it’s not what I would call advanced as it’s all just things you can buy from normal consumer shops.

I don’t know if this is a funny troll ha-ha post or you really have a toilet were your horizontal or whatever and I am 100% intrigued and you should post picks of this invention.

No TV here ! Haven't even hit the 20th century yet...
I don’t watch conventional terrestrial TV/SKY/Cable anymore and have not for the past 5-7 years or so. If I cannot get it on my pc from a download (Torrents I guess) or streaming (bbc iplayer/4od/ Netflix/Youtube) or something I don’t see it.

I'm ashamed to say I;m not that advanced. As a kid I was always the technically advanced one. But life and time got in the way and now I just want something that works rather than have to fiddle about with stuff.

Having said that my life revolves around my Nexus 7 now. It has replaced so many other devised in my life and is now my main source of radio, TV, music, diary, reading, email, and other communication.

I'm advanced in the sense that I've pretty much sold my soul to Google. I use a Chromebook, Android phones, all of Googles services etc. I don't even have a TV license now, just watch youtube or iPlayer on my Chromebook attached to my TV using a bluetooth keyboard. Rarely use my PC now accept for the odd gaming stint.

This is the downstairs of my house. When the laser isn't being used, I still use the DMX lights as my main house lights as they only run off LEDs. Electricity bill has dropped considerably since changing to these lights. They are controlled by my AIO PC. I have considerably more than a mobile DJ/disco set-up.
