Are you doing anything with Hue?

Mine was full, i picked up a light strip plus and two motion sensors, just didnt have a two pack of the cheapest white bayonet clip ones so ordered those from amazon to complete my hallway/landing

So I want to get a hue white bulb and motion sensor for outdoors, I know it's not fully waterproof but the sensor will be moved under a small canopy so never get wet.

I'm guessing I can set it to only come on when it's dark.
Any way other than the placement of the sensor to dictate the trigger zone. So I can avoid the neighbours triggering it.

My Aqara sensors finally turned up yesterday, and got them all paired up with the smart things really easily. Unforutnately my tool of choice, stringify doesn't support the lux sensing they have, so my plan to utilise them to only trigger when light has really dropped has been foiled so far! Still, they work just as well, perhaps even better than smartthings due to a wider viewing angle it seems.

I brought a Logitech Hub when it was on offer at Amazon, with few expectations. I have to say, combined with a Hue base and lights it is great. With one Alexa command I can turn on the projector, lower the screen and have it automatically adjust the lights to a 'cinema' setting. I can voice control the media center during the movie, and then have it turn off the projector, roll the screen up, and return the Hue lights to 'normal' when we finish. Lazy but saves a lot of switching etc. I am certain with time I can do a lot more with it too.

Does anyone actually use colour range after the first few days? And what for?

Landing light and downstairs hall light, dimmest red at night. Works well, everyone can see to get to the toilet without waking the house with the light.

Other than that, its a gimmick.

Can the motion sensor of the Nest Protect be used to trigger hue lights, the nest protect already had a light that works well to light the landing but extra lights would be handy.

Thanks.
Seems 25 Vs £45.

Or just use white and smart features?

I set the living room ones to diff colours for the kids when theyre watching movies and they love it.
Our bedroom ones we have the main light a bright cold white and the others all teal accents

You can get the Ikea smart bulbs with the red to white colour range that are compatible with hue. The E17 are either £9 or £12 a bulb and E22 either £12 or £15.

I've added 6 of the Ikea smart bulbs to my Hue family and they work very well.... a real £££ saver. I do use the whites in the morning and red (there are a few profiles like Savana Red or Nordic white or whatever) in the evening and it does provide a nice "ombeyonce" change.

Do hue do the cheapest kind of bulb in gu10?
I’ve seen the richer colours and white ambiance gu10 but not the lowest priced plain white bulbs in a gu10.
Would the bulbs from other cheaper brands be a good alternative?

I’ve got 6 in my kitchen, wanted to sync them up with strips under the cupboards and a motion sensor.

I don’t think I’m going to bother with the gu10 in my bathroom, realised the 4th light in there that’s in the middle of shower extractor isn’t a gu10 it’s some kinda smaller low power bulb, so putting the other 3 gu10s in there as hue bulbs would look weird.

Depends on the room. We've got the strips as our under-wall cabinet kitchen lights and different colours, especially recipes etc (where there's hues along the strip rather than solid), work particularly well. And no we're not tacky chavs, it just works in that area for some reason.

Anywhere else no, other than a slight tinge maybe.
