Are you fat?

Nope, cancer pretty much took care of my overweight issues though as a diet regime I would not recommend it even though you cannot fault its effectiveness.

Yes, but not because the BMI scale says so.

Almost every professional rugby player is clinically obese according to the BMI scale. It's laughable that it's still considered a measure of anything nowadays.

But then again so are certain media outlets content, but it's still considered legit my millions.

I do find it funny how a 20 stone man can run 100m pretty much just as quick as me, and I run it in sub-12 seconds lol

BMI: Yes.

Real World: No.

BMI is a load of nonsense. It's a rough guide which takes only a few things into account, missing some very key elements.

I'm a bit tubby, nothing major. Healthy, as I like to call it.

My BMI is 33.6, so that makes me obese (GET IN MA BELLY!). Sure I have a little extra fat, but I'm a regular at the gym and have a 32" waist, so go figure.

22.3

but i'm really badly out of shape, while my weight is fine, i have an bit of a belly i need to lose

BMI has obvious flaws but can still indicate obesity etc.. for most people. Unless you're a serious athlete, bodybuilder then just dismissing it with LOL BMI etc... isn't necessarily appropriate. For most people, a high BMI isn't good.

21.1, or 22.3 accounting for disability.

That puts me at the lower end of normal weight, however I'm still fat lol (most of the weight is located in front of my stomach XD).

Yeah but as we know most of the people in this thread are pro athletes so obviously their bmi is a bit off.

What are the chances that half the people in this thread claiming bmi are rubbish are just fat?

I think the problem is fat has become the norm. Something like two thirds of people are overweight and a third obese so "normal" is not something you should be aspiring to. If you're surrounded by overweight people you don't realise you are actually overweight, instead taking the **** out of those that are are actually a healthy weight as "skinny". At least we aren't going to die of heart disease fatty fatty boom boom... :p

This obviously doesn't include that small proportion of people that actually are big because they train a lot, so as mentioned before, 3/4 of the forum - don't you know, bodybuilding and computers to hand in hand! ;)

Obese according to that - I'd like to think you've made it when you hit obese on BMI but still have quad separation and remaining vascular.

People who moan about the BMI scale make me laugh, since they always mention the people with lots of muscle line. Which in itself is true, but anyone with enough muscle to scew the results, is defintely not going to be worrying about being fat anyway, so they can just assume they are healthy.
I just sit there imagining some fat bugger that thinks he somehow underneath his huge beer belly he's actually Arnold Swartzenegger. Lol.
Bmi works fine, cause if your fat you know it isn't muscle, I use myself as an example, BMI of 24.9, low BF and gym a lot. I'm not suddenly going to panic and stop going and lose weight. However if i was at home all day eating donuts with a bmi of 25+, I would.
