Are you going bald?

IF so, do you care?

Reason I ask is that I met a guy last night through a friend that is, or he says he is. I've never met anyone so depressed and low about it. It's literally all this guy could talk about. He started taking some medication for it. I think he said it's called Propecia. And them some other stuff too which I can't recall now. All it's doing is making him shed more. Looked on line a bit last night and it seems like there's entire forums dedicated to this. I suppose I shouldn't find it strange but still. Some guys on there are nearing suicide due to hairloss. Since I'm not losing any hair I suppose I cannot put myself in their position, but I can't imagine it bothering me at all. Or not enough to take it to the internet and complain about it.

So, are you? Did/Does it bother you?

For example, a post from a very depressed forum user

'Mature hairlines, yeah right. Notice, how guys who are top models NEVER get "mature hairlines". They are NW1 for life. Mature hairline is just the nice way of saying "genetically inferior subhuman scum". I hate my life'

Admittedly an extreme example, but the rest is not a lot different. Albeit not so littered with negative adjectives.

I'm 33, my hairline has receded but I'm not going bald. Would I prefer my hairline to not recede and not at some point start going bald? Yes. Does it bother me and keep me up at night? No :)

I don't care; im receding slowly which is better than my dad and younger brothers did they all were shiny on top in their early 20's, ive got to 40 and still got plenty.

When it looks like it's gone too far though it's razor time!

I'm not losing hair, and if my grandad is anything to go by i'll be fine until i'm at least 70!

I've never understood when somebody is going bald and has very little hair on top why they style it. I saw somebody last week with long hair on the sides but hardly any on top, and he had it spiked up, it looked ridiculous!

I'd just shave it off if I ever started losing my hair but I suppose it's difficult to say when i'm not in that position.

I’m not bothered whether it stays or goes and like to keep it short. I guess all the blokes that worry about it must think they’re going to lose their manhood or something. The ones that get depressed are just very sad specimens of manhood.

I know mine is going slowely, but I can't really say I care to be honest. It happens, and I think it looks worse trying to fix it than to just accept it won't be there.

I'd rather it stays attached which it seems to be doing at the moment, but if it does disappear it won't be the end of the world.
I am starting to go nice and grey though, won't be cracking at the just for men though :D

This to be honest.

Though, they have posts floating about where some girl from online dating said that she doesn't date bald men, or a movie reference made in 'We bought a Zoo' where some little girl said to Matt Damon that she thinks bald men is ugly. Then something in 'Curb your Enthusiasm' where there's some negative reference about being bald.

These things seem to rule their lives.

That's me too. Full head of hair, but fast greying. Very fast actually.

I have been going bald since I was about 15, maybe earlier. When I reached about 18 it seemed to stop but now (21) it seems to be accelerating again.

I am not bothered at all, there are much more important things to "worry" about in life. Saying that, I haven't shaved it off yet as I don't feel my hair looks particularly bad without being shaved off.

His trouble isn't his hairline, it's his brain - totally ****ed up.

People with or without hair are capable of doing amazing world changing things - people who cry like a baby about their hair style are not.

Nope and probably won't after most of my male relatives holding onto masses of hair for a long time.

People who get upset about going bald tend to have other security issues, got a mate who's ginger and is glad he is loosing the hair... :p

I've been slowly going since I was about 15, but it's really starting to pick up the pace now I've hit 24.
Silver fox here I come! :p

That's exactly what I'm called at work. Or Badger. I started the foray into greyness around 18 it seriously picked up around 25-26 and when I hit 30, it sped up even more. Every haircut I get I'm quite looking forward to see what greying surprises lurk beneath my fine locks. And I'm never disappointed.

Nope, it looks quite good on most guys. Then there's the guys with weird shaped skulls or dents in their heads that does make it look ... interesting :p
