Argh Acne!

What age do spots tend to go? Im 16 now and had spots since 13, really really annoying, tried that CSR thiong was working great then had another breakout :(

Also they recommend eurocrin moisteriser which is like £10 per bottle, is this actually important, and if it is cold I get NHS to pay for it via prescription?

Well... I ordered some of that Acnease stuff.

£150 for a couple of months worth seems fairly OTT but I am prepared to give it a shot.

150! This must either be very urgent or you are loaded :s

got to say if you wiling to spend that much i'd have a trip to your local GP who'll give you some cream and anti biotics which should work very well, if it's really serious he;ll refer you to a specialist.

There real is no need to be spending that much.

Trust me, if its mild acne get a tetracycline... it works

used to get these HUGE spots on my nose, just the one spot but HUGE...thank god im past those now, i get htem about twice a year now

It really does vary for me, and for me £150 is worth it if I can stop putting the Oxy 10 on. It will only be like £26 for the 'maintenance' dose in the future and really I spend that on skincare at the moment. GP said it isn't bad enough to risk treatment. (translation - doesn't want to waste NHS money on a cosmetic issue which frankly I agree with, hate to think of someone genuinely ill not getting treatment because of my vanity)

I've ahd acne for about 6 years now, i found some medication i was on worked wonders but made my skin dry as hell so now all i do is wash my face with water and try not to touch it too much.

Also when shaving, i've noticed if i use more strokes but use less pressure, my skin doesn't seem so sensitive.

Hopefully they'll stop alltogether soon :(

get a tan, all acne will disappear. I guarantee. Works every time and makes your skin surface look perfect :)

I tend to get that kind, not always on my nose though.

no that doesnt actually work. it's a short term fix but it makes hyperpigmentation (red marks left after acne) a lot worse. do not tan to tackle acne. in fact, contrary to popular belief, UV rays have been known to irritate skin and worsen acne. i recommend using a moisteuriser with SPF, as protection from the sun definitely helps.

also, to the people spending £150 on products - please stop. i again point you in the direction of www.acne.org and www.clearskinregimen.com. at the very least, try this technique for a good couple of months (check the videos first). i guarantee you will see at least some results. it's relatively cheap and very much worth it.

also, a few people have mentioned accutane. be warned - this should only be used as a LAST RESORT. it really is there for people with really terrible cystic acne, with large nodules... not your every day acne sufferer. some of the side effects are not pleasant, it's a very powerful drug and should not be considered unless all alternatives before it are exhausted.

the basic principle behind being acne free is relatively simple - gentle cleansing, lots of benzoyl peroxide (after gettin skin used to it) and a good moisteurizer. twice a day. again, see the links above for more information.

It causes birth defects, among other things.
