So another game to poke about with our DX12 sticks.

Ignore the date on the post, he updates it over time.

This game is the most unoptimised tripe I've ever seen. It's not even that pretty to be honest, and the dev seems to target 30fps.

have you guys even played ark? I have and back in the early days i was getting at least 45FPS!

Now with slightly more optimisations im getting around 55FPS on high settings. And lets not forget its a early release game... Do you even know what one of these are? Its still being developed, in development... It's in alpha so its not going to be fully optimised and optimisation isn't a priority. The development of the game is so you only get small optimisations here and there.

And using certain steam command lines i can maintain 60 FPS easily all the time with a frame rate cap on 60FPS so its all smooth for me.

DX12 should be nice in this game and add some nice gains! And it's a nVidia game aswell btw using gameworks!

This is surely a good thing. Hopefully it will happen in a lot of games. However, I doubt that a game patched for DX12 will perform as good as a game made for DX12 from the ground up....but who knows.

The future looks bright......bright red that is!

;)

Is this the new Crysis or something. Does it actually good that good for such low perforce?

No it does not look that good.

My laptop at work cannot run it in any playable fashion even at lowest everything and 640x480, it's only a 650m GDDR5 though.

My friend's desktop at work, with an i5 4460 and a 550ti, gets about 20-30fps at lowest settings and 1600x900, it's playable, just, although it basically has no textures and is a blurry mess, I wouldn't play it.

His desktop at home is an i7 920 with a GTX 690 and a RoG Swift. He runs in low-medium settings at 1080p and gets about 30FPS. It still looks crap imho.

My desktop at home is in my sig, 4790k and GTX 980 SLI overclocked. I can run high-epic settings, I still get about 30-40fps. It looks OK but not amazing, and certainly not pretty enough to justify the crap performance.

I know it's an alpha/early access/whatever, but that's how games are released these days. Few of them in such a poor state.

I've never played a game with such huge differences in quality when dropping one setting down one notch.

I quite enjoy this game tbh and think it looks very good IF you have everything maxed out. Not quite the witcher 2 (not played 3 yet) but it is about a year away from release so it could end up being much better.

They could be keeping the awesome gfx fixes for release so it looks amazing and gives us all a great big smile.
