ARK: Survival, Directx 12 Patch this friday.

Sucks it's been delayed but at least they have acknowledged they had an issue rather than just release it. Interesting looking game anyway

Not sure it's smart to have a free week end while the game is still so buggy.

if they've done it once they will probably do it again before or near launch

though, it could also mean they are running low on funds and are hoping people will start paying to continue to fund development, which might mean it never makes it to full release

im really enjoying the game....

I tried it on this free weekend and doing so got me of the fence about buying it.

I won't be buying it yet, I've been getting flickering areas on the screen that I can't seem to clear up and they were so bad they made it unplayable for me. I'm running an AMD gpu (Fury Tri-x) and performance was fine it was the damn flickering that spoiled it. I spent ages going through the various settings but was unable to do anything about it, It would even flicker when I was in my inventory (not as bad but it was full screen) When running around I'd get 10 to 20 % sized patches of what I could see on screen flickering like it was a shader issue (That's what it was when I've seen similar in Stalker mods).

Shame, I hope they do do another free weekend before release as I'll want to check it out for myself before buying it.

Are others experiencing this?

Could it be a memory thing?

Optimizations required for HBM maybe?

It's a shame as it has potential on the gameplay side of things.

In under a week it had generated $10 million in revenue, the profits from which had already covered the previous 7 months of development up to that point

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articl...l-evolved-has-already-generated-usd10-million

It sold 1 million copies by early July and is more than likely double that now. I really don't think they are going to have issues

Did Ubi invent the pre-alpha scam? It was on a lot of E3 videos a few years back, never saw the term before that.

Not sure what you mena about Ubisoft - Why is the game a scam though?

Hopefully this is nothing to do with Nvidia's DX12 performance, I guess we'll have to wait and see.

possibly and if is nVidia they will have put "reached out to both AMD and nVidia" to stop all the fanboys jumping on it! But possibly seen as from what it looks like nVidia DX12 drivers don't seem to be in a good position atm.

Will be interesting to see how performance compares across both brands. Perhaps AMD will be better for heavy RTS games and Nvidia for fps. We might see architectural differences really separate the two brands. Or not!

I'm hoping DX12 will bring us better minimums tbh (like Mantle did).

More efficiency in mGPU systems will be lovely too :D

If you mean generally, maybe.

If you mean a-synch compute and shaders, no way. It's a UE4 game, and given that Epic are allied with NVIDIA, predictably neither are implemented in the engine, despite being the most wanted feature for the new APIs among devs. Furthermore it's a GameWorks (yet to be implemented) title, where there's no way the dev is going to implement a feature missing from the engine which their partner (NVIDIA) won't support for more than a year (and then only on their brand new cards), and which might give a large performance lead to their competitor (AMD).

my game is laggy on high with my setup, but its still in alpha. too bad dirext x 12 patch isnt for win 8.1 as i dont wnna upgrade to 10 just yet

Edit: is that lag due to it been locked to 30fps? LOL
