Arkham Asylum

Well, I completed the story last night, and all I can say is WOW. I can't believe how amazing some of the bosses are in this game! Really enjoyed some of the big fights towards the end too... they should throw in bigger groups earlier on IMO, it really feels like proper superhero stuff that way (I played on Normal).

Sadly, it was only towards the end that I actually started getting the hang of combo timing, managing to hit 20-odds here and there. Problem is I don't seem to be able to manage it when the groups scatter - sometimes Batman will zip across to the nearest enemy seemingly randomly, other times he stands around like a lemon punching thin air (I'm sure I'm missing something).

Oh well, plenty of fun to be had with challenges now :D

If anyone reading hasn't played this game yet, then GO BUY IT! :D

Oh, and roll on the sequel ;)

Yeah, that's one thing I could never work out. If you do a series of combos and knock the baddies down, they end up quite far apart so Batman zips over to one of them which he can hit just as they are getting up but then that leaves a huge gap which he can't cross to get back to hit another one before the combo timer ends. Does throwing your Batarang count as a qualifying combo "punch"? There is an upgrade option to power up your Batarang during combos but I never chose it.

I ended up with all but one upgrade before the final boss. Yes, I got the Batarang power up quite late, and it does then count as a combo move. I didn't really have much time to get the hang of it mid battle, I found the dodge move was more useful in a panic than the Batarang.

BTW, how on earth do people manage the Crypto tool without a 360 pad? :o

Great - can't wait!

The only problem is I'm at a loss now... The challenges are fun and all but I'm looking for something else to get my teeth into now. Shame Steam aren't doing a DAO deal.

I'm just hoping that Arkham City (due out next year) lives up to it's predecessor.

That's the one thing I thought was missing really, I was playing the game expecting at some stage to leave the asylum/vicinity and float around city rooftops for bit, but it never happened.

To be fair the game's title should give it away :)

Ive heard a lot of good things about this game and might end up getting it!

Is it a very linear sort of game or are you relatively free to wander around doing your thing?

Its fairly linear, once you exit the first asylum section you have a little more choice about which direction/order you do the game in but its more an illusion of choice than any real choice. Theres some odd side distractions like hunting trophies, etc. but in general its pretty linear.

A and D with right and left mouse buttons. Really easy actually lol.

Thanks for that, checking prices on it now!

It's just come out as a Platinum/Classics version now so don't pay more than £15. (Unless you want the GotY version with 3D support but apparently it's a bit gash.)

EDIT: Curses, we're not in the console section are we. LOL.

This was the first game I'd ever played through using a 360 pad and it was so easy to get used to I loved it - would even consider getting it on 360 to play through on that :D

As said it's one of the few games I've actually completed 100% - at least as far as the SP is concerned - still got loads of the challenges to master!

Went straight through on the hardest difficulty and it was surprisingly easy to get used to the speed of attacks etc and yea I did die thousands of times but it was worth it as the game was far more challenging :)

Best game I played for a long time, loved swinging down from the gargoyles grabbing unsuspecting goons :D

found crocs lair was frustrating
