Arma 2 multiplayer arranging thread

I would love for there to be a training day. I got lost so many times last night. Is there a way to get your current coordinates as a rifleman/corpsman, sometimes i seem to have the device in the map screen with the numbers, and other times not. Being on TS didn't seem to help much as i had no reference to where i was to ask for help!

cant u leave on the gps and map markers whilst upping the difficulty level of the AI?
That is the current setting on the server, but.....
Nothing has been changed, it was just a different mission. In Arma2, the missions have a lot of control over the 'settings' as such, i.e. they can define whether you have GPS, what you can and can't see on the map etc.

Last night was air calv mission i belive which means dependance on Helis to drop you in and extract you with cover from venoms? i maybe wrong on that but last night was down to having helis help out and ferry you which didnt happen when we had loads of tards blowing up helis or crashing them in the airbase and ppl litered all over the map

Mission on Tuesday was domination

TBH i dont mind what settings we have it on, i enjoyed both levels of play made me work so dam hard in helis on vet mode :) was fun but i do see it been a pain to many who are still very new to the game which im very much new to but i do lookforward to when we all can play vet mode in the future

Guys I am building a new rig and I am very interested in this game. What are the online games like? Is it your typical death match etc? Can someone give me a brief run down on this? Seems like this is a co-op game? I am confused :(

Thanks

Theres a demo on steam to try out.

you can just play deathmatch, I quite like it and the demo is probably all you need if you want a bf2 theme

a lot of full game servers will be co-op missions against AI on a gigantic scale so you might have to walk a mile to see an enemy and then you die. It has a lot of potential both ways

The real game I want to play is like 50 vs 50 multiplayer and no bots. Ive not seen it yet but I bought the game just in case it ever happens, a good server and players is vital

New rig wise, my rough verdict is 2 gig min and 1 gig on the video card. 4870 or higher and for whatever reason it seems to be most demanding on the cpu then anything else so dual core high clock as a minimum

You'll get a good idea from reading the thread I think. As to the choppers he only time I got in one I dropped some peeps off and blew up. I think one of the players did it but tks weren't appearing sigh. No more air cav pls.

I think i may have been lucky last night...

I spawned.. somewhere, it was 8.20. it was dark. I blindly ran about a bit and then thought "ooh, nightvision"

I decided to head North-east-ish. Everyone who had spawned around me looked lost and had disconnected..

After 20 mins i thought "i hear a chopper.." I looked about and there it was, flying over head, so i ran the way it had come.. 10 mins later there was some lights.....

Funny lookin lights those in the tree line, hmm... as i found a plane abandoned in the trees at the end of.. a runway.. YES i thought as i jumped out of the way of a truck with no lights on..

Eventually i found HAMMER, yes.. good man, jumped in and set off..

still aint figured out where we went yet :(

Cheers for the reply, Ill download demo when I get new rig and read the thread. My rig should be able to run it nooooo problem :D

i thought you can create your own missions and play them online? why not do that? create a cool mission and allow GPS and map markers on??

I don't have the time to create a mission from scratch, do you?

I think we should keep rotating missions until we know which ones work well (Longest Day from Monday and Domination from Tuesday have been best so far).

Indeed. Good luck, let us know when you're finished learning the arma scripting language and made your mission ;)

Agreed, I've added a couple of new missions on there today to try out. As we go through and play them I'll delete any crap ones :)

what scripting language? there is a built in mission editor

played two nights this week with you guys trying to get my head round the learning curve, been under the name Tom which is now updated to Furbs. Shame about the noob HC pilots last night but I actually managed a couple of pushes where I did more than get shot in the head and actually taking a few of the AI with me.

This game has great potential.
