Arma 2 multiplayer arranging thread

The major issue is the Helis...

You have 5 types
Blackhawk-- Transprt of troops to and from hot zones
Wreck Chopper -- Needed for picking blown up assets which need repairs
Lift chopper -- needed for listing assets in to teh field IE MHQ/Ammo and light trucks/jeeps
Huey --- Light troop/combat heli
Cobra --- heavy attack chopper

loss of any of thse choppers cripples you badly some respawn some dont... hence why there is strict admin rules on use of thse helis and MHQ

same goes for trucks and tanks

The problem is that we have tested, but almost all of the MP missions have some sort of major bug that prevent them being completed or similar.
Feel free to recommend any missions you discover though and I can put them on the server :)

ill have a look but im not sure whats good or not lol id love dom more if we hada tank or cobra at the start :P

getting a joy stick today so i can do fixed wing as keyboard dont cut it :P

It should be fairly simple to modify our existing domination mission to start with extra vehicles and just include them in the respawn script. I'm currently looking at modifying it with other stuff (TK jail script etc) so will look at vechs too :)

thanks lee your a star

also question can you modify how many enmry units in a village ? and also counter attacks? and base attacks

can you imagine we fully attacking a hot zone and all of a sudden a host of t-72/90 and mech/inf unit move on to the airbase blowing it up... it be bloody good fun as we woudl have to retreat and fight for teh airfield :D and in doing so teh nemoy resupplie teh other village we was attacking be well cool :D

no idea if u can do that but would be fun :P feel more liek a warfront

*EDIT*

Crazy idea.... on dom mission why not up teh caputre points to say 20+ i know it would take days to do it but it would feel liek a perputual war plus it be easy towards the end from all the extra bonus vehicals you unlock and small forces which reocuppy towns/villages and citys

You have to remember that it depends on the campaign settings but im sure as ppl get used to creating and scripting that it will be more complex and ull get your wishes :)

on OCUK server we have a lot of players who play the game a lot so taking a town is now more faster than when we started also with key players who can drive/pilot/snipe/javlin/laser target and so on makes a hugh diff

I disagree with it being vets doing the work. We played a few games games with just three of us late one night. All of us were noobs and we still managed to take a whole town quite easily. One guy didnt even know the basics.

So I think it needs to be upped.

Rig is here! Building tonight and should practise some 1player tonight and hopefully be with you lot tomorrow night :D

id say come on the server tonite mate and get a feel for MP :) we all more than welcome to answer any questions you have on TS2 :)

Lol, you assume he'll have it built, installed, patched and working by tonight :) he's that excited he may forget to plug in the psu, lol.

But ye, if ya find some space, pop onto server and look for some of us loons and you'll soon be shot.

Nice one mate thanks, I might just do that. To be honest I do normally just go straight in to multi player. Will defo jump on the TS server, cant play a game with out voice coms these days it just doesn't feel right!

PSU??? What is this madness you speak of? My 200W PSU should run 2 4890's in Crossfire right???? Joke btw :P

Good stuff, see you soon :)
Just as a warning though, if you are going to play the single player campaign it'll probably put you off, its ridiculously buggy. The editor (or some custom made SP missions) is good for some practice etc, especially when it comes to flying ;) MP is where the fun is at though so get on and join us soon!

You should be able to do that with the editor, but the problem is, the more enemy units you have, the lower the ratio of server CPU cycles per enemy for the AI calculations. Therefore the more enemy you have, the dumbed they will all be. That is why, as shadowze says, once you get down to the last enemy in a town, he will be an uber invincible soldier, becasue the server only has to do calculations for it and nothing else.

I was thinking that as well, start one day, play for couple of hours, then come back the next day, and still be playing the same mission. Would also allow day/night cycle to mix things up a bit.

I do like the missions where you have to defend a counterattack, but the counter is usually about 3 tanks, which once we are all set up, takes about 2 seconds to defend. We need to up the units on the counters.

Purchased yesterday and got it patched waiting for me when I get home from work :) Is it better to jump into MP or go through SP first?

Imo MP (can be a lil overwhelming) if you wanna learn quickly and do bootcamp and amoury when you can on SP to learn helis and aircraft

His name is tom123. I've reported him but can't remove him from the group, suggest everyone does the same.

Right, done the SP a bit (you guys are right, I think it does get stinky quite quickly) so have a decent basic knowledge to use now.

What I have found is that I'm uselss at commanding due to needing to learn more menu shortcuts, so I perfer to get given a gun and ordered about from there so to speak. I assume that is how Co-op is played?

Also, given my skill level is it OK to just hop on the [OCUK] server (which I asume it's easy to find)?

Finally, I downloaded TS2 and dug out the headset but the mic looks as if it's bust. Would that be a problem?

Cheers and hope to see some of you tonight!

No probs just join a slot that isn't a leaders role (you'll see a list of roles when you join the server). If you choose a role that is led by an OCUK member at least you can talk to them on TS if you get lost etc :)

Server is easy to find, in the multiplayer list just click 'filter' and type ocuk in the name field. Any experience level is welcome, you'll pick it up quick enough. Most important tip I guess is to quickly ID your targets before shooting, press space and point at them, you'll be able to tell whether they're friendly or not. Theres an FAQ in the first post of this thread that may be of some use too.

Its still helpful to listen in on what is happening, so not a complete disaster but having a microphone does help tons, especially when you need help (i.e. lost, need medic, need evac etc).
