Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead

Steam is offering £30 for Arma II and OA. I'm tempted by this. But I could just pick up Arma II for £13 and wait for a lower price on OA.

So - What's the actual correct release date then?. 2nd July right enough?. How come some folk are playing it already or are Play just "at it" with release dates?.

Also, just cancelled my Play order. Do they send you any email confirming the cancellation or similar?. Got nothing so far, apart from in my "Order History" it is showing the game as "Cancelled". That's it though. I assume the charge will be refunded to the card I used to pay for it initially, automatically?.

If anyone is looking for proper coop on this game (30+ people), then we'd be happy to have you along for a sunday op etc if you apply.

Could you guys have any more mods, lol. can't play mission :(

If only it played as good as it looks.
I loved operation flashpoint, but ARMA and ARMA 2 were the video game equivalent of bovine dysentery.

Damn didn't realise you could get this on steam, off to start off the DL now lol now I really am skint

EDIT: Paid and downloading, ETA 4 hours, another late one tonight then! sheet, I'm using bandwidth posting this might have to log for a bit!

I tested out the Sukhoi SU-25 and posted a brief 1080p video on YouTube.

Performance was really good even at the 2560x1600 resolution I recorded with FRAPS. Recording also knocks of a good 10 fps so don't let any choppiness fool you. It was smooth.

About performance: I have all settings at max except Post-processing as I find having that enabled gives me a unsharp, washed out look.

Exterior and interior view in sceens below

Looks awesome, so how does performance compare to the previous version? I know the reviews have commented but how about you guys that are running it yourselves, is it more optimised?

You're running that on a serious panel! nice screen

the game is not optimised at all, very laggy and buggy. i'm getting about 40fps at 1920x1080

The game requires a REALLY fast system , no way in hell can you max out
settings with a decent screen res (1920x1080 or bigger) , you would need
to try out normal settings for most and then adjust as necessary

Quick question on a part of the SP Campaign I'm unsure about, possible spoilers below ( drag and highlight my text ;) ) :-

I'm on the SP mission "Locate the captives" where you are diverted at one point in your M1A tank from the main mission to locate a downed transport aircraft crash site. I have found and reached the crash site and fought off the enemy insurgents. HQ Intel now gives me 3 possible locations to check out for the aircrew of the downed aircraft and tells me I can utilise a UAV via the rear of an APC to control it. I have approached the other APC's with me in my group but can't find anything to do with controlling a UAV in them?.

Just reinstalled Arma II and patched up to 1.07.

Ordered OA from game for Friday delivery. Should look good on my system.

Edit: Plus I love the exclusivity of this game for the PC only ! Imagine a crappy console trying to run this....PooF !

Not just that, but the wide variety of controls available and the masses of mods out there, neither of which a console supports! :)
As well as playing every week with 50-70 people coop and side vs side with proper comms and ranking structure, I don't think currently you'll find this organisation from console games/gamers.

I'm waiting on getting OA myself until the people I play with adopt it, I assume when ACE works with it, until then there's no reason for me to buy it, nothing new will come from it that the modders have done already.
Except maybe it running better and proper IR, but those two things do not justify the cost.

Sorry about that , we were testing some british addons to see how they
ran with Arrowhead.

cool is that what u guys were doing? i thought u was testing it on arma 2 lol but yea i downloaded those mods and dumbed them in my arma 2 folder.

You guys up for some OA action tonight?

how would this and the old ARMA2 run on a 2.6core2 4gig ram and a gt260?

getting a bit bored with bf2/mw2 need something more like i like sim racing rather than arcade racers.
