***ArmA 3 Thread***

For a guy whos never played Arma 2 will this be a easy start?

Thanks

Easier than trying to learn arma2+ACE etc then relearning arma3.

Here is the thing with arma2. Its not hard to make it work. Its just hard to avoid or know what to do when it doesnt work as intended. Thats what makes it hard.

The biggest problem with Arma2 was the way that you'd hide in long grass thinking you were hidden only to get shot because it just looked like you were in a flat field to a player a long distance away. Draw distances meant terrain popped in and out of view. I wonder if Arma3 has sorted this out?

Never seen this so I am guessing it was fixed in Arma 2 many moons ago. Terrain does not pop in and out on DayZ anyway which I am guessing would be the same as normal Arma missions? I did play BAF the other night and I never noticed it anyway.

Absolutely great point. I basically bought arma2 because I thought it was amazing you could flatten the grass in front of you. So you go prone, look down the scope and no dam grass in the way like bf2 for example.
Unfortunately the grass springs back and like you mention, it wasnt proper camouflage anyway so that was a bit crap

Stuff like is what really matters, graphics I'll happily play on whatever settings if the gameplay is well done. Terrain detail is the biggest factor to any modern multiplayer game, by that I mean advanced stuff like demolition and tracks. It'd be nice to see a step forward

arma3 should be easier for new guys then arma 2 + mods which can be pain to setup and update all the time

I just wonder how many bugs will have to be captured and squished

Reconciled to the fact the 1pm release will be painful with server overloads etc. Have until next Monday off so I'm in no hurry and will not look at this thread after 1pm for no spoilers so I can learn everything myself.:D:D

I know what your talking about ive killed many people because of this your in grass but someone is 300m away and the grass doesn't get processed on that persons game till they get closer so you can see the player who thinks he is hiding more than he really is.

Normally more so up at the nw airfield

The grass only appears upto a certain distance in Arma 2 still. One of the biggest issues that is yet to be fixed. I think Dayz standalone is going to try and address this issue but having the foliage density settings server side rather than client I doubt they will have it rendering too far into the distance so peasants can still play with decent fps.
