***ArmA 3 Thread***

Hey guys,

I have played some Arma 2 and have the Arma 3 beta.

The game has an extremely steep learning curve and was wondering if anyone has their own server I could join? Would be good to learn the ropes as I am a bit of a noob at it.

Thanks :)

Jumping on a public server won't teach you a thing mate apart from the Ahoy servers that run Invade and Annex. Good group of guys on there who are friendly. Try and find a group of guys on those servers (and forums) and asked to be taught some stuff. Apart from that, load up the editor, spawn in some units and learn that way :)

Playing Wasteland won't help you learn Arma, trust me!

Try 173rd airbourne. Lots of people were chatting away on that last night, seemed to be working through domination mission which is probably the best way to learn as its co-op vs AI

My FPS is not as good as I hoped, sub 20 too often

Run through the boot camp tutorials and (if you can be bothered) the campaign in arma 2. That should get you upto speed on the basics, especially in controlling AI.

As most servers run user made and hence custom missions, once you have completed the above, its really a case of finding a playstyle you like (co-op missions would be best for beginners) and finding a decent server to learn the differences and refine your knowledge of the more complex parts of arma

OMG thats stunning!!

I've been holding off and holding off on upgrading. Im waiting until Arma 3 is fully released and only then i'm going to look at what hardware is best suited to the game!

I got a cheeky mention in there! Shame they didn't actually answer my question though, not sure whether to feel honoured or annoyed haha.

Still, altis looks ah-ma-zing. Who here fancies some hide and seek when its released...

My internet, not fast enough for online of most games, and with the amount of people in an Arma server I certainly doubt it will even connect lol

sounds very unlikely, whats your speed reading. I used to have 128k dsl and it was always fine for games, 64 player bf2

They dont take much bandwidth because whatever you have to handle is upto 100x greater on the server
