***ArmA 3 Thread***

sounds very unlikely, whats your speed reading. I used to have 128k dsl and it was always fine for games, 64 player bf2

They dont take much bandwidth because whatever you have to handle is upto 100x greater on the server

Haven't tried online games in a while, but the speed here is about 40-70kb/s at best

Is anyone part of or know of a dedicated Arma 3 mission community?

Try www.havoc-company.com

We are still playing arma 2 for now, until the full release of arma 3. Our main night for playing missions is on Sunday from 7pm, however if there are enough people interested we run mid week ops aswell.

Great bunch of players + some very knowledgeable mission makers. I joined a few months ago and could never go back to the likes of battlefield/COD type games.

That sounds good. Looking for some good squad play/team play but not so much so that if I put a toe out of line im gonna get screamed at :p

I'll check the site out thanks :)

Well the alpha version of JSRS is already amazing. Game changing once again. Shame there won't be server keys until the release of the game but that's understandable.

Any advice for a new player ? Getting a little tired same same of R02 and its to dabble in Arma both Arma 2 & 3 are have been sat in my steam libary for what seems a eternity and never got round to install.

Cant all AI be set to lowest skill. It is poor that they cant see its a problem for first shot kill accuracy to be far too common in the game

The problem lies in quality. Ive not played any game that uses 40kb per second for online gameplay. Downloading sure but just player positions and that sort arent that complex.

I wish we did have more, I'd like active terrain distortion and all sorts of multiplay info but so far its all still very basic.

The advantage of not using a 56k modem is the latency, the actual bandwidth from the old days is pretty much fine believe it or not

First thing you should to is get to grips with the ARMA controls. Very different to anything else you will play. Arma 2 control wise also has some differences to ARMA 3. I'd say get the controls down, then for ease of use and access, jump in to a COOP Arma 3 mission. I picked it up from there on really, join the squad, listen to your squad commands, make sure you follow orders.

In very few circumstances in ARMA can you be helpful just on your own. Always stick with your squad, even little "side missions" within the COOP missions can make you feel really good about accomplishing something as a squad.

I love ARMA because it's so different to the COD/BF type games, don't get me wrong, I love those too. But simple thing's such as scouting out an enemy encampment and reporting enemy movements to other member's of your squad who can then suppress etc. Just those sort of time's and missions make the game for me.

I'm not sure if AI mods are even needed now. Last time I tried they were not acting like the dead-eye terminators they used to be.
