ARMA2 & OFP2 who else cant wait

Anyone know why its quite difficult to get Arma Gold anywhere at the moment? Only available at one main online store and for quite a premium. Shame its not on steam or anything :(

I think i paid around £25 for Arma gold, it was worth it, shame i havent managed to get it working on my new Vista computer. :(

holy cow. I was really looking forward to COD modern warfare 2, but these two look awesome. just downloaded and watched the trailer for OFP2, roll on the 30th Sept!

I've also bein trying to find a cheap copy of ARMA but nowhere seems to have it. guess ill just have to wait for ARMA2 :D

I wish I could be more help here although I can confirm that I've had no issues getting it to run on Vista 64 with 4gb ram. Hopefully you get it working as I've been recently getting quite into the coop. There are still so many bugs but it's been a good laugh all the same. Can't wait for the second one and can only hope it's a bit more solid at release.

:D Just got it working now!

I went into MSCONFIG and limited my ram to 3072mb instead of 4096.

Now runs great!

Dj Switch, we can get a game of coop arranged at some point if you are up for it, hopefully there are other fellow OCUK members still playing this...

Glad to hear you got it working, Pyroboy. :)

I'm getting tempted to reinstall ARMA. The first time I played it was on an older, previous PC system that didn't quite cut the mustard as far as spec goes and I had a fair bit of slowdown and visual glitches with it. But the system I have now is light years ahead of that one and I quite fancy playing it again.

Can anyone tell me if the modding community is still as active?. Particularly when it comes to good user designed SP missions?.

Hah Snap!

I built my new system around last November i think, and before that i was playing Arma on a system that could only "just" play it, and it was very slow at times. However this new system plays the game with the settings at max.

Should get it re-installed im having great fun playing in a few servers, would be good to get some of us together for some coop/online play.

I think I'm decided, going to reinstall the damn thing. :p

I never played ARMA online last time around, didn't have the time to get involved in co-op. Last time I played anything related to OFP was exactly that - the original OFP online.

Tell me, as I've not looked at anything ARMA related since it first came out, is there a "sequence" I need to follow regarding the reinstall of the game when it comes to patching it up to the latest version?.

Excellent!

The patches confused me a little bit, as there seems to be different sequences for different versions. I have the Gold Edition and i just installed a 1.08 to 1.14 patch and it worked fine.

Cool.

Remind me, once the game is installed is there a "Check for updates" button in the game menus or anything like that?.

The ARMA I have here is the original boxed version from when it was first released.

I have just launched the game now and i cant see an option that lets you check for updates.

Just looking at the Arma download page (http://www.armedassault.com/downloads.html) but im struggling to understand what increments you need to go up in.

Depends on your version but i had no trouble working it out yesterday, for the original boxed version goto 1.05>1.08>1.14. Reinstalled it yesterday and spent the entire day playing with a mate on an Evolution mod server, for the life of me I cannot remember why I ever uninstalled it, had a blast playing it again though.

Thanks for that info, I will reinstall and follow that patch update path. :)
