ARMA2 & OFP2 who else cant wait

So long as the controls don't feel clunky like in the original it's looking good. Vehicle control felt cardboard like in the old one and the voices were bad!

The TrackIR looks great for pilots and other crewmen, and the trailer makes it look good for infantry, but I am not sure how much I would like it for infantry.

Will ArmA2 have epic online battles with 100+ people?

Slightly off topic but is anyone here actually a member of Shack Tactical?

I was looking at some of the ArmA videos from the folk there and some of the battles look pretty epic.

Is it quite unforgiving on the newcomer?

Yes and no, depends what you expect.
If you go in with the frame of mind that it is a military simulator and act as such, you will be fine.
If you go in thinking of COD, you are screwed.

It's definitley for the simulator side of things. More importantly it's just hoping to find a mature bunch of gamers, acting as a team rather than 20 Rambo's under the same colour.

It wasn't until a few months ago that I got a machine finally capable of playing it and got Trackir as well. I'm just not sure whether I've missed out on too much with the original, for online games, or if people are reasonably patient with having a noob on their team for a few weeks.LOL

Some of the vids from Shack Tactical look pretty appealing though. Definitely more my preferred style of teamwork.

Edit: I have got the game...just never got around to playing it much yet or even online at all.

Generally OFP/Arma gamers are a very mature and team working bunch.
Finding a good dedicated COOP server is fairly easy.

I used to play on Major COOP (Lol clan) server all the time in OFP, allways fun to be had.

Good to hear. :)

I ordered a mic today so hopefully that will be the key to knowing where to go. LOL I had a quick game online just now and it's seeming pretty good. I just need to sort out my controls now. Trackir seems to want to zoom every time I turn my head too much. Once all the controls are mapped in a sensible fashion then I'm sure I'll be losing a lot of time on it.

I am going to try and join these guys once Arma2 is out. I completely skipped arma (am still playing ofp!) but there is no doubt that Arma2 will take co-op gaming to the next level.

I used to be in a very organised ww2online clan and many of the members were also in Shack Tac. They are a great bunch of players; totally dedicated to realism etc. After a few hours playing with them you actually start feeling like you're in the army.
