Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon

Some of the games linked together but as Chuk_Chuk says it's more Final Fantasy. Themes and names (Ravens etc.) carry over rather than one storyline. I only played a couple of the other game but have watched some playthroughs and they were all good at explaining the state of the world at the start I felt.

There's some good, I played all the games, here's the important bits, vids around.

More gameplay coming today it seems.
Nice one!

I've preordered this, I loved AC1 on PS1 and the Souls series is the GOAT for me.
I thought the first gameplay video looked a bit...sterile, hopefully this new footage is better - though I feel like FromSoft are institutionally incapable of making a bad game at this point, if it's anything less than brilliant I'll be amazed.
Curious if there'll be any design carryovers from Souls, beyond the obligatory Moonlight sword, or if it'll be just a completely different game.

I have been eyeing up that collectors edition since it was first announced, mainly for the figurine and the artbook. It has been over a decade since I've pre-ordered anything. I'm assuming it will still be hopefully available after launch. Maybe?

Quick touch some wood. People said that about CDProject Red :D

I think considering it's not sold out already - and there was a discount for early preorders - there's a fair chance of stock being left over if you want to risk it, especially with AC not being as big a franchise as Souls which tends to sell out quite quickly and then command a lot more money on the bay etc.

Well, just watched the new footage and it looks absolutely epic. Looks like they nailed the game engine from how fluid it looks. Boss fights are going to be a treat, along with stuff like the huge walker thing. Any concern I had is gone!

I was going to post the same video if no one else had but was late :)

It's a great vid and even if you skip the spoilery sections about the missions the depth he goes into in the second half is great. I was never a huge fan of rerunning missions to get a higher score but I'm still very hyped for this. It's a busy release window though with some other big names.

This guy offers a really good breakdown of the combat. It seems like some attacks will best dodged while on the ground, while others will require you to take to the air and then some will be inbetween.
He shows how the different weapons work and the different fire modes. There is a good amount of variation here and these are the starter weapons, so it is possible that there are more unique weapons to be found.

I did like that they've brought back the shoulder mounted weapons that you can switch between. Do you accept the extra weight etc. to have greater or more diverse firepower. :D

It was always the customisation that I loved from these games.

Same, i played one of the earlier games on PS1 back in the day and spent hours if not days just modifying the mechs and testing different setups. It was so much fun, i really enjoyed it plus it was quite challenging.

Hope they bring back that sort of nostalgia to the genre.

I'm getting the feeling that we'll be happy with this new version.

I might still have the very first game on the PS1 still. I did play the one that came out on the 360 and it was fun but it was a very different style of game. It was around then I think that they started speeding everything up and it became this real twitchy shooter.

I read some of the reviews on that and it put me off, i haven't really tried any other AC game since then. I also at that time got really into the Front mission series and really enjoyed the same mech building design but on a turn based system so Front Mission ticked off a lot of those boxes for me.

Here is mostly uninterrupted gameplay footage. It shows the same missions but you can see gameplay from “the average joe” perspective rather than devs. One thing that stood out is how fast paced this game is. I can see why repair kits are instant.

The quad legs are really efficient in the air.

That looks amazing! Doesn't look clunky at all, looks quite fluent.

Gonna really enjoy it, will bring back some memories this.
