Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon

Doing battle logs and came across
Rokumonsen
. I gave up on that fight after many goes. I'll come back later to it. F that guy and that fight. :D
I was caught off guard by him, I didn't know that fight would turn like that when selecting that option.

Getting the battle logs in the city was really stressful though. It is the worst to get in the game I think.

this doesn't seem to be generating quite the same fuss as elden ring. i guess not much does. Probably something I'll put on the backburner for now and come back to it - got too much left to play rn as it is.

Just completed NG++ and with that the final ending. What an epic game. I'm not going to repeat my praise of the gameplay.

The sound design in this game is great along with the sound track, though you don't have much time to appreciate it with all the bullets, rockets and lasers heading your way. The low contrast look/back drop works really well to help identify incoming fire.

The story is good enough, it got me hooked. I would have liked more from the ending especially the aftermath but it does seem to be From Softwares style to leave the post ending quite open for discussion. I do like how the story changes through the subsequent playthroughs as it reveals more information. There is some interesting tidbits in the logs that are scattered around that reveal more about past and current events. The dialogue and interactions between characters is great and I liked the different personalities that shine through. Such as the contrast between the leadership style of G1 Michigan and VII Snail, with how they treat their subordinates and others. Its really gritty but they do a good job adding appropriate levity to the tone.

There were a few times that subsequent playthrough did feel like a bit of a chore because not every mission changes with each playthrough. However because you are improving with each playthrough you just dominate in the missions. You're not spending 3 hours to fight the same boss. Most missions you will one shot them. The missions that do change, I don't expect you will be stuck for too long on them. I do wish that for repeat missions it would give you a rank rather than having to go specifically into the replay missions mode.

In my first playthrough I ended up doing all the missions to support the liberation front while in the second playthrough I worked with the corporations (while doing all the new missions I was given). I do wish I had done it the other way around and that is what I would recommend that people do. I think it flows better from a story perspective and it is easier to keep track of for reasons that will become obvious when doing a NG+ playthrough.

I do want to S-rank all missions and hunt the last few parts and logs down. We'll see how that goes.

Fun Fact, It seems like the AC tester pilot who was delivering the Mech. The one we murder as he crys about just wanting a callsign of his own. It seems like he was supposed to end up with the G13 callsign. So we took his life and his callsign :D . All in a good days work.

Finally finished all 3 playthroughs and all missions. Loved the game, the gameplay and variety of playstyles is top notch. It was also nice to see how i had improved as each subsequent playthrough took roughly half the time of the previous one.

I'm still on my first play through but I ended up backing the rebels as I couldn't get past the first (I think) corp mission branch. :D

There was a mission that had no checkpoints, where you had to effectively do 3 mini boss ac fights and the final guy was crazy. Hitscan 100% stun lock etc. I spent longer trying to do that mission than any of the main boss fights by quite a large margin before giving up. I know that's on me but it is what it is. The alternative rebel mission took me about 3 minutes as it was a single boss.

I know exactly what mission you are talking about. It is a tough one.

there are 4 mini bosses if you want to collect everything. Have fun :D

getting near the end of my ng++ play through and still loving the game :)

im finding spring chicken legs and the rest of mech hal parts to be effective for most things with 2 needle stingers and 2 gatlings, more agile than what i had before and can sustain some air time :)

finally got around to playing this - I think it might be a bit too intense for me at nearly 40 :) Maybe Witcher 3 is more my pace haha. Anyone else find it a bit of an overload?

There's been moments that's for sure. I also can't decide if I'm better or worse of by using mouse and keyboard. It's very hard to use the hardlock without holding the mouse in the air to make sure I don't break the view.

I'm in act3 of NG+ run and it's great. The first alternative mission was a real "oh damn!" moment.

Completed NG++ and the third ending. Loved it.

Fully recommend this game to anyone, if you get on with the combat there's a good game here. With a story that is slowly revealed. I thoroughly enjoyed finding small lore drops within missions, hints as to what was going on or different view points. Having those moments when something clicks and you go "ooohh!". It's a shame there isn't a tracker for these though. I found a lot and spent a fair amount of time exploring but one of the bad things, the scanner doesn't detect them, but they do spark and tend to be obvious when you have line of sight.

The main problem I had was using mouse and keyboard instead of controller. The hard target lock doesn't work unless you lift the mouse into the air; any movement of the mouse and therefore your aim, disables or switches target in hard lock. However, hard lock is very useful against fast targets at close ranges and bosses. Switching between, Soft and Hard target lock throughout fights has real advantages.

I just started playing this. Really finding it a chore to be honest.

Keep running out of boost mid air and plummeting... I just am not enjoying it. Luckily it's a short game and I'm on chapter 3 already.

What kind of load out can people recommend?

I'm on chapter 3 and my current load out which seems decent is:

Dual vvc-760pr

Dual vp-60lcs

It's decent fire power and I don't seem to be running out of ammo as I was when I tried dual Zimmerman and dual song birds.

If you want proper flight time you need the lightest mech possible for dashign baout or using tetrapod legs you can hover almost indefinitely. All builds have completely different play styles, you just need to experiment and find ones that work for the mission you are on or try find a build you enjoy and force your way through the encounters. You can swap builds every time you start a mission or die so just experiment.

It wasn't just the flight I had a problem with it was the combat as well. Was I meant to play this with a controller?

Because using m/k it was awful.

You spam the two mouse buttons to fire your hand guns and then you have to stop moving to press q and e to fire the weapons on your shoulders.

I just found it boring to be honest.

This is probably only the second game I have ever given up on.
