Army of the Dead

Loved every moment of it. Wasn't expecting a lot but was pleasantly surprised.

Do you reckon he'll make a sequel, with how it ends?

Awful.

Movie starts at 54 mins.
I found I was fast forwarding the rest.
Stopped at the 2 hour mark. Lost interest.

3/10

The story and pacing just isn't very good and setup was just way too long and boring, they had some interesting characters but their scripts were very weak. The father and daughter storyline is just meh and felt totally pointless.

Finished earlier, was enjoyable, great gore/sfx and excellent sound if you're on some beefy speakers. Certainly that cinematic feel :D

Plot holes etc as expected but it's a fun evening flick to just have a blast with and that is all perfectly well and good.

Mmmmmmm, 6.5/10.

The acting was pants and the CGI went from bad (first zombie sighting) to good.

The ending:

Not what i was hoping for, all that for nothing. Would have been nice for DB and his daughter to survive, take down Tanaka and to have a life together with a bag of cash. We could have still had Vanderhoe go down with the plane in Mexico for a sequel.

Oh and speaking of Van - i get he could survive in the safe from the nuclear blast, but it would have been radiation city, the blast was directly above him - no way he could have survived the fallout radiation.

Also Coyote, can't believe DB gave up on her so easily - he could have saved her (somehow!)

Ah well, fun zombie action with a bit of a let down ending.

Nevermind a sequel, looking at Wiki there's already a prequel (Army of Thieves) in post production staring and being directed by the German actor playing the...erm German guy in the film.

Also animated series about early breakout in Las Vegas.

Enjoyed it. A bit formulaic and the ending was predictable. But it was some god mindless entertainment and a nice twist on the zombie genre.

I also enjoyed it but 2 things annoyed me....

The crash at the start. We've all driven, well those of us who can drive, with a passenger and been talking to them. What we don't do is spend most of the chat looking at them and not the road. That sort of thing in films/TV annoys me. A bit like someone driving and moving the steering wheel left and right.

The other thing is on the roof when the helicopter pilot comes back in to pick them up, not that it's a direct copy from Aliens (as was the line earlier in the film saying "you don't see them ******* each other over", but instead of jumping straight on and flying off they have to take far too long chatting first to give the bad guy time to get to the roof.

I had a further thought in bed this morning

If the safe was nuke proof , what was the point of the heist for those involved in going? The alterior motives exist in the antagonists to be there pre bombing, but the ones out of the loop have zero incentive.

I dunno, probably overthinking it!

Seen a lot of complaints about the length of the movie, did seem overly long for a basic zombie movie.

Had a few cues taken from "I am legend" as well, was OK I suppose but about 45 mins longer than it needed to be.

Funny that this was also triggered by some road head as well.

They weren't talking

4/10 tops. You guys rating it so high...what's wrong with you?! :D

It's mediocre all the way. And what's with the full intensity bokeh and other crappy visual effects?! Yikes.
I will admit I saw a post on Reddit about the movie and how ZS shot it with a very strange depth of field, like someone was trying to get autofocus to work in portrait mode on a phone, apparently it was like this in another recent ZS movie possibly the DC extended thing. I noticed this too and it did bug me at first but I must have got used to it through the film. I thought the FX were pretty good to be honest, a few dodgy running zombies in the distance but over all. ok.
