Army of the Dead

I really enjoyed it. Just a fun movie throughout. I loved the little flashes of the fall of LV.
I thought the tiger was done perfectly. I genuinely forgot I was looking at CGI.
When the guy was shut in the vault I was thinking "WTF Dieter, you've condemned him to a terrible fate of dying of dehydration in the dark" but it made "plot sense" later, at least.

It was all that I expect and more. This movie has one of the best intros I have seen in a long time. There was a few silly plot points I agree but it was always going to be the case imo. The latter half of the movie fell a little flat but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. Solid 8/10 for me.

I also enjoyed it but 2 things annoyed me....

The crash at the start. We've all driven, well those of us who can drive, with a passenger and been talking to them. What we don't do is spend most of the chat looking at them and not the road. That sort of thing in films/TV annoys me. A bit like someone driving and moving the steering wheel left and right.

The other thing is on the roof when the helicopter pilot comes back in to pick them up, not that it's a direct copy from Aliens (as was the line earlier in the film saying "you don't see them ******* each other over", but instead of jumping straight on and flying off they have to take far too long chatting first to give the bad guy time to get to the roof.

Yes a little far fetched. After a Nuke had gone off the building, the rubble and stone would have fused the entire site under the vault. Radiation and sheer volume of rock alone would have made it impossible to get out and all that provided the vault didn't melt or him being cooked inside.

The last part with the bloke driving, why did it take him so long to feel unwell or begin ti change? Bit of inconsistency

He was the only character bitten by the Zombie leader and no one else. The security guy was bitten by loads of others in the swimming pool. Sets it up for a sequel.

Hmm, wasn't expecting that much but still finished this somewhat disappointed. People already pointed out a few plot holes but writing overall is very lazy in this and only gets worse if you start digging any deeper but this is meant to be some mindless fun.

Action scenes were fun but there weren't that many of them taking into account the length of the film. Way the whole thing was setup was clearly trying to build a little franchise around this film, as evidenced by a prequel already in post production and complimented by anime style TV series. Very formulaic all in all but this is clearly written for Netflix to pump out more content around.

Ending very cliche and obviously setting up for a potential sequel too, overall just a lot of tired stereotypes and tone that couldn't decide if it wasn'ted to be funny or dramatic.

It was ok. Basically. The parts where they would just randomly stop and chat for a few minutes were just daft and completely unrealistic.

Also did :

Did the mum survive or not? Have I missed something here...

One other thing is, for eg at the start, the guys just laughing after seeing 5 of his fellow soldiers murdered.

Because a movie about zombies is realisitic anyway :D Going to watch this evening.

Was OK. Character development was pretty awful, I really didn't care who lived or died. A lot of nonsical plot holes. I dunno, I was kind of hoping for more really. Something crazy, more fun, bit slapsticky. It was just a generic zombie movie really.

Problem with movies like this you don't care who live and who dies, the movie hinges on that and if you don't care for the characters then you are disengaged with the movie.

Train to Busan 2, similar premise, was better I thought. I found the characters more relatable and actually wanted them to live.

Only present day Zack Snyder has the ability to take such an entertaining premise and make it an incredibly boring and bloated mess. Also, the blurring and bokeh are just ridiculous.

wait didn't Scott get bitten by the Alpha during the helicopter crash and that was way after Vanderohe got locked in the vault. If both got bitten by the Alpha how did Scott change before Vanderohe. Yet Van had time to dig himself out, walk all the way back to his home, drive to Utah, buy a plane, take a flight almost landi in Mexico before feeling unwell??

Scott has a much deeper bite iirc, that'll be the throwaway explanation I bet
