*** Arriving On Tuesday 5*** ***

my 8800gt is about to blow up, so i decided 2 give myself a nice little xmas present in the form of XFX ATI HD 5870. Alas, i probably shouldnt call it a christmas present, as from the sounds of things i wont be getting mine till feb :( which sucks, badly.. i cant game :'(..
i 'pre-ordered' it on sunday (bad time i know) which has made me realize that i could be something like 20982 in the queue (ok, 869 if im lucky) due to the high demand. and read above about getting 5 of each card at a time.. not looking good is it? surely there's guaranteed to be hundreds of pre-orders for that card, so if im near the end, maybe it could take 4 maybe 5 months for that dam thing.. i really really am regretting my order now, as disappointment has totally destroyed ANY excitement i had building up.. is it really worth waiting months for that card??

re-read this thread. They're getting a LARGE quantity *Fingers crossed* today.

You won't be waiting months, supply will increase in jan/feb but there have been several cases so far where single deliveries have cleared the entire backlog. You can also keep an eye on the cards that are coming in and if it looks like another brand is going to become available you can switch - I did, ended up ditching the xfx last Thursday to grab one of the sapphires. It arrived Monday :)

Unable to deliver, adverse weather encountered :( Theres not even any snow here

Any chance they will "attempt delivery" later today?

i guess i might have been just a tad bit negative there. really was a stupid idea to order so late. oh well.. i was going to ask if it is worth the 'possible' wait, but then again i've got a smoldering 8800gt here, so anythings better. btw, is there much difference between manufacturers of the chipsets, eg. asus, xfx, sapphire? if not, i think i might just do what you suggest ste, cheers!
after buying gta IV over a year ago, i'll finally be able to play it soon and see what the fuss is about, woooo!!

There is not much difference on manufacturer, they all use same OEM stuff, only difference really is price and if a specific manufacturer decides to give away a game or 2 with the cards.

i've just noticed OcUK has increased the price of the xfx hd 5870 by £10, nice. also dont blame you people, the amount of 'where's my graphics card?' 'how long till it arrives?' etc.. kinda thing must be tiresome. so im gonna take a guess and say that extra tenner is for something to uhhh 'help' cope with those questions ;-)
