Arsene Wenger: Arsenal boss to leave club at end of season

Who would you rather have had?

I would have loved Allegri or Simone but neither were interested, besides not all top managers would want to come to Arsenal with a limited budget and no CL, much rather Emery than Arteta.

Allegri would have been the first choice but that is completely unrealistic. Tuchel or Jardim would have excited me. I'd have taken Arteta as an unknown who is highly thought of (despite the fact he has never managed a game)

Instead with have the ex-PSG boss who has managed to guide PSG to a french title after spenidng £500m - its hardly inspiring. I'm willing to be proved wrong, and I'll enter next season with an open mind, but this appointment doesn't excite me.

I'd ignore his stint at PSG given that interview that came out recently after he was sacked - sounds like he couldn't manage the way he wanted to. He did well at Sevilla and they had a similar structure to Arsenal, he's also a discplinarian - something we sorely need.

Allegri and Simone sides would have been so boring to watch.

I just hope the fans give him time to work, it'll be frustrating if we get more of the same meltdowns like on ArsenalFanTV within a year.

I think Emery is a better appointment than Arteta. People seem to have mixed opinions about him, but it's fair to say he did a good job at Sevilla, less so at PSG. Should be interesting.

Monchi is to thank for that.

Well then you might as well not credit Fergie for the kids that came through United because it’s not like he found them all by himself. The manager still has to take those players and work them into a unit that works and improve them.

Quite the comparison there. As small as it might have been, sure, he played a part, but there's a reason why Roma snatched Monchi from Sevilla.

If anyone will make his life a misery it’s AFTV, I don’t think they will give him time. Thy will expect a title, fa cup and the Europa league title at the minimum lol.

I’ll get behind him, not overly excited but he’s better than Arteta imho.

The way people in the media/on social media go on about managers it would seem like the manage is controlling the players like he is playing fifa lol.. such nonsense. The players you have matter huge amount also no?

Of course but a manger is massively influential

Its like any business if you have a good boss you tend to put a shift in when required etc

If your boss is an idiot who you dont respect then workers tend to slack off

So Unai Emery is our new head coach, not manager lol.

Just been confirmed on sky sports news.

Interesting they don’t class him as a manager but as a head coach.

Welcome to Arsenal Unai, let’s hope he gets off to a good start and gets us back to the CL and hopefully have us challenging for the title soon.

His first press conference at 2pm on sky sports news.
