Arsene Wenger: Arsenal boss to leave club at end of season

Tbf the 'warchest' is relevant when talking about who might take the job. Some managers would want money to spend, some younger/less proven managers might be happy with a smaller amount to spend... so if they only have a small amount to spend it limits the pool of managers available. It wasn't as though we were getting page after page of transfer rumours and mock formations, etc.

But meh, sounds like it might be over now anyway!
Discussing finances as a side point is one thing, when the entire topic of conversation is about how much money there is to spend and who Arsenal are going to sign, that's no longer acceptable.

Seems like it's Emery given the bookies etc. Interesting. I think there's an element of 'no idea what to expect' with Arteta that's interesting and exciting, but whether he wasn't the best interviewee, he didn't feel he was ready or he just wanted to keep working at City then so be it.

Ignoring PSG, three 3rd place finishes with Valencia, 3 Europa Leagues in a row with Sevilla who I'm told have a similar structure to how things are at Arsenal now. Dunno what his English is like but seems like a good appointment if it comes to pass.

There were 9 posts between your warnings and only two of them could be seen to be about transfers and how much money there is. Another was saying you could be bought for a tenner. :p

Come on it’s hardly “entire topic of conversation” and finances are extremely relevant to the job and who gets it. Let it flow...

Thanks for the advice but no. Several of our Arsenal supporters have real problems following rules so any Arsenal related threads will have no leeway and why the Arsenal thread has been closed. As I said, if discussing finances was a side point to the discussion then that would be fine but the topic had gone completely off track and all that was being discussed was the transfer budget and we had posts (which you can't see as they were deleted) simply commenting on which players Arsenal were being linked with. You'd hope that after I gave the first warning there wouldn't be more posts simply discussing the transfer budget again, especially when those posts had no relevance to the appointment of a new manager.

Hmmm Emery then by the looks of it...he did well at PSG though but tbf french league is weak.

I wonder what happened with Arteta, he seemed to be odds on favourite to be our next manager.

The board spoke to every possible candidate, drew up a shortlist then voted.

Emery was their favorite choice to succeed Wenger.

Well yes that’s PSG he was never going to work on 20m a season there.

Look at his record of players bought and sold though at lesser funded clubs. People may sniff at the Europa league but he still won it 3 times on the trot. That’s an achievement that I doubt you could do with any of the clubs in the EPL outside of the top 4.

So seems like Arteta was the front runner for the job but had reservations about the management structure at Arsenal. So that’s probably why he ruled himself out of the job.

But definitely looks like it’s Emery that will be the next arsenal manager/coach.

Definitely going to be an interesting season coming up for Arsenal. Just hope he does well and gets us back to the CL and keeps us somewhat competitive in the league.
