Ashes thread - England vs Australia * SPOILERS *

Not too impressed just yet, but i will reserve my full judgement until we have batted.

The pitch has been a batters paradise, no real swing on offer to Hoggard or Anderson either which is a shame. IMO only Hoggard and Flintoff seem to have had a decent amount of control.

Getting a little concerned about Harmison, a bowler with so much expectation heaped upon him by greats such as Courtney Walsh yet to me he fails to live up to all the expectation of late. Im thinking maybe he needs some work on his action as its not looking good.

No need to panic, this is the first innings of a series and we haven't even batted yet. We started poorly last time as well.

1st day belonged to the Aussies. Although it does look like a terrific batting pitch, so I guess we'll have to see what batting performance our boys can produce.
I feel sorry for Flintoff though...he can't carry the whole England team. :(

1 hour to go till day 2 and we desperately need a couple of wickets with that new ball otherwise its gonna be a case of waiting for a declaration.

Funniest part of yesterday IMO has to go to the fan who was giving Harmison abuse for about an hour. Must have been sitting near a microphone for crowd noise.

A drunken Aussie ascent shouting things like "Harmy.... Your still in the shade mate" when he was fielding on the boundary instead of bowling.

"Harmy..... When you gonna have a bowl Harmy"
"Stevie..... Nice balls stevie"

2 or three of them an over for about an hour.

Heres hoping for some quick wickets :)

209 partnership and the Aussies have gone past 400 runs. I don't think they want past 400 at all in the last Ashes and apart from the Oval I can't remember too many century partnerships either for the Aussies so a really good start for them.

Flintoff the only bowler to really stand up for England, got a feeling this might be a long hard series for him as others really don't look up for the fight. With Freddie you know he will just come steaming in and not feel sorry for himself unlike players like Harmisson. Harmisson really seems to either be superb or terrible, no middle ground but he needs to get a grip here or be dropped. Flintoff is really pumped up here, he is giving England hope and they need to get a quick 2 or 3 wickets and make sure they don't get past 475.

Ponting out LBW for 196. Australia on 467-5. I wouldn't be surprised to see them declare around the 550 mark and still win by an innings :(

Edit: Hoggard on a roll. Two out in three balls.
