Asking someone where they are from

Well while we're being factual the women in question aren't actually black or white, brown possibly walnut and pink possibly lavender or lace.

Incorrect. White is defined as being a colour.

"White is the lightest colour and is achromatic. It is the colour of objects such as snow, chalk, and milk, and is the opposite of black. White objects fully reflect and scatter all the visible wavelengths of light. White on television and computer screens is created by a mixture of red, blue, and green light."

Incorrect.

"Some consider white to be a colour, because white light comprises all hues on the visible light spectrum. And many do consider black to be a colour, because you combine other pigments to create it on paper. But in a technical sense, black and white are not colours, they're shades. They augment colours."

That's an opinion piece on art...come on, try harder. I'll wait for you to do what I did and post a definition, not someones musings.

They're still opinion pieces...come on, you can do it!

noun

plural whites
1
: the achromatic object color of greatest lightness characteristically perceived to belong to objects that reflect diffusely nearly all incident energy throughout the visible spectrum

Having no need to ask a question about someones heritage, yet asking anyway, is racist because... they don't need to know?

Also, I can see no connection between asking someones race and saying "this black guy".

It's like anything to do with race or colour or foreign **** in general is taboo, the sooner that stigma goes the better. I don't see how racism is not such an obvious thing

Just seen this. WTF? You have literally transposed the word heritage with race and are asking why it's racist?

I wasn't going to join this but you guys peaked my interest. I did some digging and the answer is. It depends on your point of reference for what a colour is.

Do you consider what you perceive with your eyes to be the colour spectrum, then yes white and black can be considered as colours.

However if you consider what is actually emitted by electromagetic waves and how your eyes detect the colour white (red, green and blue colour cones are stimulated by their respective electromagnetic waves, like how we are all stimulated by this discussion ;):D) then no neither black or white is a colour.
