ASRock 775Dual-VSTA for Conroe (Core2) with both AGP/PCI-E and DDR1/DDR2 support

Opps yeah... somehow missed out the @300mhz it won't POST properly lol.

Flexibility option is off, using an AGP graphics card until the x1950xt turns up, the vlink is on normal (What the heck is that anyway lol). Shame it won't POST at the moment :( just get the black bios identification screen then it locks up.

Munky > my email is **********************could you fill me in on how you got your visa extra please so don't go to far OT :) (if thats ok?)

My E4300 on my asrock is clocked at 290*9, but it does not seem to back off from that at any point to save power (speedstep). Does the motherboard support speed step or similar, and if so, where is the option to turn it on please?

Just seems silly to waste power on an easy overclock. If it was maxed to the nuts I would consider it a compromise, but at only 290 on standard volts I would prefer it to run slower if possible when just in basic windows.

Thankyou,
Matthew

we have a budget board,we're not cool enough for speedstep

Ok slightly different question..... which hardware monitor do you guys use to show fan speed and the temp the bios reads etc.

I use speedfan for fan speeds, but i don'tknow how accurate it is. for temps, I use TAT and coretemp...TAT shows about 1-2 degrees higher, but i go with that, to be safe.

Anyone going to get one of those new e4500's for this board? the 11x multiplier sure looks tasty. for me, that's over 3.3Ghz if the chip will handle it :)

Would defo be interesting to see that!!

EDIT: And yeah, I downloaded speed fan, although I can't really make head nor tail of it lol. Doesn't seem to be able to adjust fan speed as I expected.

I did mention in this thread not to long ago that I had managed to get the 7950GX2 working in this board.

This was incorrect as it turned out that even after getting a much better PSU it still randomly restarted.

So the final answer on this one is that this graphics card will not work with this mobo!

I have since switched to an Asus P5N-E SLi so my days with this board are over!

I bought a ASRock 775i65G , which is basically a conroe board with DDR/AGP . My only problem is that im using 2gb of ocuk value ram and im not sure if it will handle me overclocking the processor. Atm the motherboard is defaulting the ram at CAS2.5 166mhz. On the ocuk website they say the ram is CAS3 but im assuming they just send people whatever is going spare at the warehouse, so does that mean that my ram is capable of CAS2.5/200mhz, as I should be able to get a healthy overclock on my E2160 if thats the case.

I'm not much of an overclocker atm , so i dont fully understand all the Ram speeds/timings/settings etc, so would there be any way for me to overclock my processor without killing the ram?

I don't think you'll kill it, it's either going to work or it's not. Windows will boot or it won't and when you finally reach the limit desktop applications and games will become unstable and ultimately crash until you back down a little. They are many applications out there that can help indentify the sweet spot and maximum performance of hardware, have a look around. The worse part of it is may find yourself with a windows installation that becomes corrupt through testing and benchmarking different configurations, make sure you have a back up. It's all part of the process, enjoy it.

Cheers for the advice :)

I'm just getting into this overclocking lark , so I'm been experimenting with different settings , but didn't want to go too mad . I think I'll push for a higher overclock tomorrow

What would a 8800gts on this board be like? Would the performance be lower coz its only got 4x?

And what sort of performance would you get with an e6420 and 9800xt in this?

Thanks

This board with AGP ATI Card

HELP!

I've bought this board to get over my Vista code 43 error.

However, I've installed, and I still can't get my 1950PRO AGP card to work properly.

Vista runs, but as soon as I try to do anything 3D related (ie Vista, CCC config) the PC switches off completely. I've installed the latest Cats and have tried reinstalling the drivers a few times.

Am I wasting my time? has anyone else got this combination fo hardware to work succesfully with Vista?

Many thanks in adavance for you r replies - although I'm sure most of you have moved on to PCIE and a better motherboard!

John.
