Quote from http://pc.qj.net/Assassin-s-Creed-PC-requirements-confirmed-lowered/pg/49/aid/115666 :

"And also note that if you had issues with copy protection schemes and your DVD optical drives in the past (e.g., Crysis discs clicking in your DVD writer drives, BioShock discs not being read), you must be warned that Assassin's Creed for Windows will be no exception.

The dual layer disc will come with copy protection technology that "may conflict" with some disc and virtual drives. Uh oh - that could only mean one thing, and we know it ain't pretty: StarForce. Alas, the list of potential drives has not been given, and you'd do best to wait out for StarForce hiccups before rushing out to buy a copy."

Shocking really as its inviting pirates

To be fair it does very, very little to deter pirates. Just like copy-protection. Go on any torrent site and you'll see no one is having problems. Only people who are having problems are legit buyers which is just a complete joke.

You can't really beat pirates and annoying legitimate customers whilst trying to beat them is silly. Actually Bioshock did cause some hassle on the pirate scene but it was very short lived and seemingly annoyed legitimate customers for much longer.

Cant stop taking screen shots:eek:

I'm interested to know how it runs on decent systems with 2GB RAM.

I have no interest in buying the game for PC as I sold my 360 version about a third of the way in. The game is environmentally and graphically awesome with beautiful lifelike animations but unfortunately the gameplay is limited. Has to be one of the more repetitive games I have ever played ........ so beautiful though ... sigh.

3870x2 runs smooth at 1920x1200 without any forced AA. However the one review i saw on performance would indicate a gx2 and a X2 were slower than their single card counterparts, so sli/crossfire wasn't working when the review was done a couple weeks ago. Basically runs pretty damn sweet on a 3870/8800gt and will probably get faster with crossfire/sli with new drivers.

It is a touch repetitive, not sure if its any "more" repetitive than any other games, its a lot longer than say COD4, had it been the same length it wouldn't have gotten repetitive.

honestly you can see where the design time went, the cities are pretty huge and I've yet to come across any places you can't get to. Theres an immense array of buildings, styles, designs, and variable routes everywhere. Its a shame, i don't know, there isn't a little more story to it and some more stuff to do. Didn't use the short blade in a multiple enemy fight for ages which was quite cool to play around with, some cool killing animations there. Animation is great aswell, very smooth.

Well worth buying anyway, its a shame that i think lack of story and reasoning really but the design of the cities and the idea is great and they've gotten those parts basically perfect, you want games like this with increased level of detail and more open play then you need to support the studio's who put time into making the games ;)

If they do really well, next game will hopefully be more of the same plus improve in the area's we weren't happy with. Don't buy them, they won't be bothered to improve it and will release a quick crap story shoddy sequel to cash in on the name.

Just got back home with mine.

However, I'm off out on nightshift and wont have time to try it till tomorrow. :(

Couple of quick questions.

Anyone else running this on a similar system to mine? :-

E6300 C2D @ 2.8Ghz
Asus P5K
2 Gb Geil 6400 ULL
ATI X1900XT 512Mb

My 19" TFT's max res is 1440x900 so thats what I'm hoping to play it at.

Also, does this game allow you to "Save" your progress anywhere or does it use checkpoints?

Looking forward to giving this a whirl tomorrow morning. :)

Cannot seem to enable FSAA above 1680x1050, at 1900x1200 or 1080 FSAA option is greyed out!

You can't as the game was developed in 16:9

Well that's a bit rubbish. I don't mind films in 2.35:1 or whatever on my TV, but I don't want huge black bars on my ruddy games!

The game keeps freezing up on me too - does it not like anything overclocked? Takes me 10 minutes to get back into Windows!

I see that the game has come back up a certain site that dropped it, for the original price (£25)

Not the metal tin one, but who cares about that anyway. Odd it disappeared for a couple of days though...

Available now also from the e-tailer that moved the release date to November. Never seen thuis sort of thing happen before with a games release. Maybe it was going to be pulled because of all the problems?
