Don't own game or three GPUs but maybe Kapp can answer that.
I don't know about the 8gb versions but it is pretty bad on the 290Xs @4K last time I tried. Having said that it looks like the game devs may have improved things a bit with memory usage as it was not too bad on my 4gb 980s @4K today.

How does 3 GPUs run the game at say 1080p?? or 1440p..
I reading driver 14.12 has improved this game quite bit reading steam forums.
I have not tried as 3 GPUs @1080p just bottlenecks the game at those resolutions. The same goes for the NV side too.

I am not on the 290Xs at the moment but have just tried 1440p on the 4gb 980s and that seems better so I think that the 290Xs will also run better.
I expect the patch this week and hopefully it will address all the issues. Frame rates is the most noticeable for me.
