Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Blimey I'm happy at an average of 64 (I think) on my 1080ti Newer cards probably better at higher res?
Should have clarified, I'm happy that it's plenty smooth etc, just compared to similar visual quality games its quite low. Shadow of the Tomb Raider, for instance, sits happily in the high 80s/low 90s on max everything, including RT. Also, my friend has the same monitor setup and game settings with a 3600 and a 5700xt yet gets 74fps. You'd think the significantly newer hardware would have more of an advantage but it seems the game engine can't leverage it or something.

That being said, it's an old engine and it's playing smoothly, bar the odd freeze up, so I can't complain!

Even Odyssey looks better (the water at least) and runs better.

It's about GPU usage though, it's not as high as it should (doesn't use more than 240W on a 3080). Something wrong with the new DX12 version of Anvil.

It doesn't stutter as much as the DX11 though...

Agreed it isn't as 'wow' as Odyssey. Well yet anyway

My enjoyment has increased 10 fold since getting to England, feels much more like Origins/Odyssey now to me. Its still not as good as Odyssey imo but the game in England is much better than in Norway for some reason.

Dont know which engine Legion uses, but Ubisoft are stepping their game up in regard of AC, this game is the last AC game to use the now 6 year old, Anvil2 engine. The next AC title will be on the next engine. I think they've really pushed this 6yr old engine about as far as it can go, its on the verge of breaking point.

Yeah, it does look great still, just a bit underwhelmed with the performance.

Even performance aside I actually think Valhalla looks worse than Odyssey, I honestly think they've tried to push the engine too much and to its detriment, both in performance and visuals. I'm still enjoying it though and I am more forgiving of graphics/performance issues on an engine that is at the end of its lifespan than if it had been a new engine, so all is fine :)

I think Odyssey fixes a few of the flaws in Origins. If I could only play one, it would probably be Odyssey. They're both worth a look though, ancient Egypt looks brilliant, and some of the eagle-eye views of oases are stunning.

I could not get on with Origins at all. Something about the size of the main character onscreen and the camera really annoyed me. But I did play Odyssey first, so was probably spoilt by that fabulous game.

Valhalla is really good, just a shame there is not as much to do in it as Odyssey (the side quests are fairly pointless). Also (for me at the moment), it's annoying meeting a wandering knight... Those boys kick a**e

Yeah I'm really liking it so far something different i guess if I haven't played either of the last 2 games.

Only found a couple of sidequests so far. Help choose crew members and bait an animal for someone to kill.

Haha yep the knights are badass. Tried using range attacks and hiding still couldn't get him.

Not sure if it matters, but the claims that latest gpus can't run this at 4k 60 is weird.

I'm hooked up to my LG CX, running at 4k, solid 60fps even in the rough areas (home town) with everything max aside from AA which is at low.

Asus Strix 3090 OC and a 9900k @ 5.2Ghz

Maybe its the CPU? Im on AMD 3950x. The 3090 i tried was guff though, its gone back and ive replaced it with a 3080 which is faster in some of the games ive tested.

Cpu impact for once in AC is negligible.

I'm finding it more fun with Mouse and Keyboard for some reason.

Will be trying it shortly in 4k on my 3080 so ill see how it compares, at 1440 it was about the same as the 3090 for me, i really think my 3090 was gimped, boosts were terrible on it and the boosts on this one are pretty good, Dirt 5 for example runs 15fps faster on my 3080 than on the 3090 so something not right there, even though the benchmark figures in Port Royal seemed to show it was working correctly.
